From below:
Ron Reagan is a good guy. I can't imagine the horseshit he's put up with being a saint's son.
MP
He addressed the 2004 Democratic Convention and voted for Kerry. He's also an atheist. The best thing his father ever produced.

A man dressed as American gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson for Halloween was stabbed in the neck with a broken beer bottle last night by three masked men who didn't like his costume.
At 3:34 a.m., police were called to College and Bathurst streets after a man was found on the ground with a stab wound to his neck.
The victim was walking east on College when he came across three men who insulted his costume, police say.
"They were making fun of his costume," said Staff Sgt. Paul Hargan.
The victim continued walking when the suspects approached him from behind and swore at him before one of the suspects, dressed as Jason from Friday the 13th, stabbed the victim in the neck with a broken beer bottle.
The suspects ran through crowds of people partying, Hargan said.

Looks like the story about Obama's illegal immigrant auntie (one with whom he has no relationship) was leaked to Rupert's London Times by a Bush official even though the case files were closed. Conveniently, the story gets picked up by AP and makes the rounds this weekend.

From TPM:
"Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcement official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release."

Quite likely working in concert with the McCain campaign, a Bush administration official is leaking details on an immigration case to try to help McCain three days before the election.

Remember when nobody cared that Obama went ahead and voted for the FISA bill because he's Jesus and will pay my mortgage for me? Yeah. Well, apparently, that wasn't a fluke because his supporters will even help him out on oppo research by making unauthorized searches on his opponents in the files of such places as Ohio's child support agency.
So you wretched fistulae do believe in domestic spying after all! Good to know.

I wonder exactly what that "Hunter S. Thompson" costume consisted of? I mean, if it was sunglasses, a big hat, and a cigarette holder...what were the thugs angry about?

I think part of the problem was that the city recommended that people use public transportation to get to the parade.
Mr. Sifter |
11.01.08 - 11:02 am | #
That's the thing. Public transit can't handle all traffic. You need actual physical infrastructure for goods and food. Dedicated HOV lanes work for buses, too. If you have to, you can walk across the bridge, it worked for New Yorkers after all.

Maybe these wealthy suburbanites will stop whining now when the state wants to spend more money on mass transit. Naah.
New Mrs. F |
11.01.08 - 1:05 pm | #
Probably was not a good idea to strongly encourage everyone to take public transportation then. If you can't handle that capacity, why not admit it ahead of time so people aren't stranded at the last minute.

I understand that they used all their trains and buses. But for a day like today, they could have rented some charter buses to drive people into the city from the the regional rail locations.

transit systems are built to handle their morning rush hour loads - nothing more, nothing less.
Not to deflate Atrios and the other Philly Phanatics, but the Philly's just don't win the world series often enough to construct the system to handle once every 30 year crowds.
Of course tax players don't even want to provide decent funding subsidies for normal service levels, let alone unusual crush loads and in spite of the transit systems being a huge boon to the local economy.
