The remains of Animal Control Solution owner Julio Diaz were found below a bridge near the town of Barceloneta after Diaz was reportedly seized and dragged off by residents of housing projects in the town.
Howver, town officials remain unconvinced that the residents are the ones responsible for Diaz's fate.
"We have never thrown Diaz off any place," residents said. "They can't prove that we were the ones who put him there."
The coroner has not yet determined whether the death was caused by a fall from the bridge, or whether Diaz was sleeping under the bridge when attacked by animals. Although lime had been sprinkled over Diaz to reduce his smell, the corpse appeared to have been partially devoured by various animals, including dogs and cats.

Yeah, but that would require me to take an interest in Debbie Slushy or whatever her name is, which I have no interest in doing, not even knowing who she is and all.

Summary: In a post on her website, Debbie Schlussel claimed that Media Matters is "anti-American, anti-Israel, and funded by [philanthropist] George Soros, a Jew who proudly worked for the Nazis rounding up Jews and sending them to their deaths." She also wrote, "I believe Donny Deutch [sic] was lying about his own religious status" in the interview, and that she "doubt[s] that" he is a "practicing Jew," because "his show is on live during the Jewish Sabbath, and keeping the Jewish Sabbath is the most important commandment for a religious Jew to keep."

I've seen her on a few talk shows. She's even more viscerally repugnant than Ann the Mann IMHO.

One internet blog suggested that Mr Gore’s award was part of a pattern of previous prize winners ranging from Yassir Arafat to Mr Carter — “a subset of cosmopolitan frauds, fakers, murderers, thieves, and no-accounts going back about 20 years”.
Critics say the remit of the peace prize, which now includes democracy, the elimination of poverty, and improving the environment, has become too wide.
But Jan Egeland, a Norwegian former senior UN official for humanitarian affairs, defended the decision of his countrymen yesterday who decided Mr Gore’s work on climate change had “reduced a threat “to the security of mankind”.
He said: “It is a question of war and peace. We’re already seeing the first climate wars, in the Sahel belt of Africa.”
Jesus Christ! Within 2 minutes, the Draft Gore petition grew by 75 votes!
Unfuckingbelievable! It's now at 198,225!

Repost, because I think it's a brilliant piece of writing, and obviously within the scope of Atrios' focus on the media:
Joe Klein may indeed be "very serious," but talk about BRILLIANT, read this piece by Bob Herbert, called "The Trivial Pursuit, in the NY Times today.
When I heard that Mr. Gore had won the Nobel, my thoughts wandered to the younger Mr. Bush and to Rudolph Giuliani, who is leading the current field of Republican presidential candidates.
Mr. Bush came to mind because, for all of the obvious vulnerabilities he exhibited in 2000, it was not him but Mr. Gore who was mocked unmercifully by the national media. And the mockery had nothing to do with the former vice president’s positions on important policy issues. He was mocked because of his personality.
In the race for the highest office in the land, we showed the collective maturity of 3-year-olds.
Mr. Gore was taken to task for his taste in clothing and for such grievous offenses as sighing or, allegedly, rolling his eyes. It was a given that at a barbecue everyone would rush to be with his opponent.
We’ve paid a heavy price. The president who got such high marks as a barbecue companion doesn’t seem to know up from down. He’s hurled the nation into a ruinous war that has cost countless lives and spawned a whole new generation of terrorists. He continues to sit idly by as a historic American city, New Orleans, remains wounded and on its knees. He’s blithely steered the nation into a bottomless pit of debt.

Fox News has successfully minimized any bump Al Gore might have gotten out of the Nobel Peace prize. By linking it to Yasser Arafat, a known terrorist and prior winner, they have diminished it's value and put Gore in the uncomfortable company of thugs. So the Nobel "bump" is over for Gore. Next. As it gains strength and viewers, Fox News will soon be making the agenda that others must follow.

MOSCOW/ANKARA, Oct 13 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Saturday she had urged Turkey to refrain from any major military operation in northern Iraq as tensions grew between the two NATO allies.
"I urged restraint," Rice, on a visit to Moscow, told reporters of her telephone conversations on Friday with Turkey's president, prime minister and foreign minister.
Two senior U.S. officials flew to Turkey on Saturday to try to defuse strains after a U.S. Congressional resolution branded as genocide massacres of Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915.
Some analysts believe the vote could weaken Washington's "restraining" influence on Turkey and increase the likelihood of a Turkish incursion into northern Iraq to crush Kurdish rebels.

Sour grapes.
If Rush Limbaugh's "nomination" had been for real and he had won, I'd bet my mortgage money you'd be crowing about it from the rooftops.
If Schlussel is so observant where is her wig?? Why is she exposing her hair on national television.
And is she bleaching it blond because she's a self hating Jew?

Will the ADL condemn Slushgal's trivialization of WWII atrocities as loudly as the weeks spent denouncing one transitory anonymous RW or LW contestant in the MoveOn contest? Or will they silently abide as is the apparent policy for right wing shriekbots perceived to be on "their" side of politics?

She's been on Howard Stern several times and sounds completely loony. The best was when I think he got her to finally admit she is still saving herself for marriage and had never had sex - she's like 35! Also she had a massive makeover a few years ago.. got even weirder looking...something is just not right with her....
