Way off topic.

"In an interview yesterday, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said “that the United States still has trouble dealing with race because of a national ‘birth defect’ that denied black Americans the opportunities given to whites at the country’s very founding.” “That particular birth defect makes it hard for us to confront it, hard for us to talk about it, and hard for us to realize that it has continuing relevance for who we are today,” said Rice."

GravatarRice is talking about AMERICA having a birth defect - slavery and racism - not BLACK PEOPLE having a birth defect.

I think that's a great statement. It also shows why she, and Powell, realized that they could never hope to win a Republican election.

Gravatar“That particular birth defect makes it hard for us to confront it, hard for us to talk about it, and hard for us to realize that it has continuing relevance for who we are today,” said Rice."

GravatarMore than three dozen Democratic congressional candidates banded together yesterday to promise that, if elected, they will push for legislation calling for an immediate drawdown of troops in Iraq that would leave only a security force in place to guard the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

But I thought since 9/11 we elected a Commander in Chief to make those decisions! Isn't that why Hillary is ready to answer the red phone?

I'll say it again:
The goal was to turn Iraq into a gleaming bastion of the new American imperialism, a giant sucking maw for their patronage machine, a free-for-all piggy bank for various nefarious schemes, a massive oil reserve for the political manipulation of markets, and a jingoistic motivation to keep unintelligent people rallying around the retarded chimp they installed to ostensibly run the country.

I don't know if it occurred to them that they might utterly destroy Iraq and still not achieve all those goals, but I guess they didn't care much. They got a lot of what they were after anyway. I still say they didn't just set out to destroy the country for the purpose of promoting endless warfare.

GravatarAll day yesterday, CNN was in its finest form. Every hour they led off with an average of 30-60secs on the Shiite uprising, followed by 2-5 mins of Kyra Phillips waxing poetic in Saddams' cell, literally discussing his poetry.

American people, we must forgive one another. It's not our fault we're all idiots.

Basically. Although some things, like an escalator, worked fine for weeks and then picked that day to break down. The big problems were in baggage claim, no one was getting their baggage. For whatever reason, lots and lots of flights have been cancelled.
