Starting to see a pattern? This from Bay's bro Pat-
One question remains: Will a President Obama, with his party in absolute control of both Houses, revert to the politics and policies of the Left that brought him the nomination, or resist his ex-comrades' demands that he seize the hour and impose the agenda ACORN, Ayers, Jesse, and Wright have long dreamed of?
Whichever way he decides, he will be at war with them, or at war with us. If Barack wins, a backlash is coming
Shitpile about to come home to roost all over this country.
Shitpile is losing its cohesion and doing other things that involve unappealing imagery across this great nation.

We need to develop much longer memories and hone our grudgeholding.
In Alabama, scores of voters are being labeled as convicted felons on the basis of incorrect lists.
Michigan must restore thousands of names it illegally removed from voter rolls over residency questions, a judge ruled this week.
Tens of thousands of voters could be affected in Wisconsin. Officials there admit that their database is wrong one out of five times when it flags voters, sometimes for data discrepancies as small as a middle initial or a typo in a birth date. When the six members of the state elections board -- all retired judges -- ran their registrations through the system, four were incorrectly rejected because of mismatches.

Fuck, what a nightmare. If you read the article, you'll see it was a sale-and-lease-back deal. If it goes south, MTA will have to pay off the investors (in effect, buy back the stuff they sold-and-leased), which could mean up to 1.2 billion in immediate payments (half MTA's budget). This won't stop with MTA.
Of course, people warned against these deals (who relied on tax law to be of interest to the investors), but public officials didn't feel the need to think ahead. Big surprise.

Los Angeles MTA board member Richard Katz said: "The feds need to be concerned. If they bailed out the companies, they also need to bail out the public agencies impacted by the companies' actions."
That will be the difference between a McCain and an Obama administration. McCain would cry and is already yelling "socialism", while Obama would say that of course it is only fair to help all the parties affected. Socialism for McCain means that that a policy benefits millions of people; socialism can only be allowed if the benefits are restricted to a few, preferably the already rich. Very good Bill Maher show on the subject last night, led by the incomparable Bernie Sanders.

FReeper sez God raised up Sarah and Joe the Plumber:
But, because Joe the Plumber, a regular every-day Amereican playing catch with his child on a middle class American street, trying to earn a living for his family, was honest about the impact of the Obama plans from his perspective, and because he did not drink the Obama kool-aid, the MSM, the DNC, and the Obama campaign now consider that hard working, well spoken, young man as the enemy.
Just as Patrick Henry indicated, and that truth still holds today...if we will hold the course, God in Heaven will raise up friends to help fight these battles.
Sarah Palin is one such friend...now, out of obscurity, Joe the Plumber is another.
All thanks for this goes, IMHO, to a merciful God in Heaven! and millions of hard working, partiotic, loyal Americans who will not give up...two of which, Joe and Sarah, have been brought forth before us all to express these sentiments.
The truth is that the left, the Obama campaign, the DNC, and the MSM will lie, fabricate, misquote, commit fruad, beg, borrow, or steal in their effort to slow down what is happening on the ground with the McCain campaign right now, and particularly with the likes of Joe and especially Sarah Palin who is burrowing underneath all of their hype and drawing 25-30,000 people at a time to her rallies and getting the message of hope and conservative values out.
Obama and his ilk know it, they fear it, and they will do anything they can to stop it...but they shall also fail in the attempt. In fact it already is backfiring as Americans all over the country take up Joe's cause.
Where Sarah's concerned, First Dude likes to do his own plumbing. You should keep that in mind.

“I am not and have never been a vegetarian,” Brown Said.

And stop worrying about impeachment and filibuster. The congress is already more heavily dem than the 94 house was republican.
Even short of 60 senate seats, Obama will be able to go on the teevee and call out the obstructionists. It seems like it would also be a good idea to replace Reid with a feistier more effective person. (Clinton would be good.) It's hard to be obstructionist with the other party in the white house.

Legally, sure there is. Fraud can never be the result of negligence, it requires a showing of intent. ACORN not only did not intend to commit fraud, it flagged the fraud in most, if not all, cases.
There is no liability here, no criminal conspiracy, no crime. What is here is a lot of sound and fury signifying the desperation of the GOP. Oh, and the corruption of the DOJ. And Obama is dealing very effectively with both, and I expect further investigations (as well as an end to such practices) under an Obama administration.

I wouldn't go that far. It's meant to prevent voter fraud from those who want to vote early and often. Besides, there are age and citizenship restrictions on voting, and registration helps maintain those boundaries.
But like the restrictions on who can get on the ballot, it is easily and often used to determine who is worthy of the franchise.

It's pretty obvious to me they did nothing wrong intentionally, but I'm not so sure that in the strictest de jure sense there was no crime. IOW, there's a problem with the law and not them. They are required by law to submit registration forms they recognize as bogus, and yet the submission of said bogus forms is apparently actionable by the election authorities. Thus, if you really want to fuck them up, all you have to do is go work for them and submit a bunch of bogus forms in a district where there are authorities with the appropriate bias. Seems like a goodfull employment scheme for the Cheetoh brigade.

Shouldn't happen, of course, but the fight to vote will be waged at every level this election. If anyone thinks we're not in the midst of a civil war in this country, think again.

The Christ-centered marriage is one where both husband and wife are united in Christ. A home that is religiously divided will have difficulties. Often there is a tendency for one to compromise Biblical teaching in order to keep peace in the family. The question of what to teach the children becomes a serious problem. Where will the emphasis be in regard to recreation, giving to the Lord's Cause, involvement in church activities. With which parent will children attend worship services? These are but a few of the problems faced by a religiously divided home.
The Corinthian brethren had problems because of religiously mixed marriages. However, both Paul and Peter make it clear that a Christian married to a non-Christian is not a sinful relationship (1 Cor. 7:12-14; 1 Pet. 3:1-6). Yet, keep in mind Jesus' teaching: "A house divided against itself shall not stand" (Matt. 12:25). Jesus also said, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" (Matt. 6:33). In view of these considerations, it is always best for a Christian to marry a Christian!

Any pre-election deadline simply invites shenanigans. Show up to vote and prove that you proved that you were eligible at some previous date? Stupid.

if the nation as a whole really wanted to register everyone, it could be made a lot easier and more efficient. voter registration could be part of every driver's license change of address, every lease, every home purchase, graduating high school, etc. yes, some would not fit in any category and would need a special effort, but with a national system that kicks in at related life events, it could be statistically a non-issue.

Do keep in mind that they know their claims to be false, and and simply serve as distractions. The idea is to cast doubt on the results, not actually demonstrate any fraud. They've already been shown to be incapable of doing that.
Having THE FBI investigating FRAUD at ACORN is not intended to get convictions. In fact, I think the early voting has forced them to pull this stuff too early. there are enough news cycles to debunk the claims.

but i'm not nearly so concerned with registration as with registered voters actually getting to vote and having that vote counted correctly.

Terry, that's what makes him so amusing. The fact that all he has is his latex love doll makes his comments on marriage all the more entertaining

He cracked me up the other day with the submissive women/subservient women thing.
I would like him to explain about Palin, Bachmann and all the other right wing harpies not being home in the kitchen.

Same-day registration takes a trivial amount of effort and time more than identifying a voter who has pre-registered.

Depends on how voter friendly the state is. Here and where you are, you register and get your ballot, other states, you stand in one line to register than a second to get to vote.

Double-voting could easily be eliminated simply by having everybody put their thumbprint on the ballot.
No identifying information on secret ballots, please.
There's a reason you sign the roll, and then step into the booth, and you don't sign your ballot.

Minnesota will do it, they've been doing it for over 30 years. Our turnout hovers in the 70–80% range.
That would be "then" a second line...

Voting could take place over a three day period. There's more people now than when George Washington bribed the voters with free whiskey.

Can you imagine how hysterical the talkingheads would be by the end of three days, especially if they had to wait until the close of voting to make a prediction?

yeah, but no one lives in minnesota.
We don't so much "live" here as we just "exist". Common misconception about our great state.

Research 2000 for Daily Kos. 10/14-15. Likely voters. MoE 4% (9/16-17 results)
McCain (R) 45 (53)
Obama (D) 45 (40)
It looks like the nation's economic woes have dragged this state back into a tie, after seemingly out of reach for Obama. This confirms two recent polls showing the race neck-and-neck.
Let's be honest here -- this isn't a state we need to win. Its 3 electoral votes won't make much a difference to Obama's chances of victory. It's mathematically irrelevant.
But politically, it would be HUGE. This is a state Bush won by 28 points in 2004. Obama would expand the Democratic map, earning a national mandate by winning in every region of the country. And it would show Republicans that they aren't safe anywhere, not even in their supposed "strongholds".

not just LA, dude.
Chicago is going to see an increase in rates and possibly service reductions.
This is only a year after we finally started to reform the funding mechanism for public transit in the Chicago region.
Governor Rod keeps making things tougher by giving away free rides to various groups, like senior citizens, even though there was absolutely NO pressure to add free rides.
All seniors get free rides, no income test or anything. Which is stupid when you have a 65 year old investment banker commuting back and forth each day from a rich suburb downtown.
Low income seniors already had reduced or free rides, so this primarily benefits seniors who are doing well, while ignoring people who may need additional transit assistance (single mothers, for instance)

The leaseback deals were economically unsound in any case.
