One of them does something experimental with plasma propulsion; I have to confess I don't know what the other one does.
The plasma guy had this little Cortina when I knew him a thousand years ago in a parallel dimension. Every time he tried to fix one thing he broke something else. Tried to change a tire; poked a hole in the muffler. Tried to remove the muffler; broke the exhaust manifold. We developed the verb "to Cortina" in his honor.
To be fair, that was, er, like 30 years ago and he might have learned to change a tire without triggering the apocalypse by now.

Pfui.
It fails to take into account the basic fact that the MBA degree is predicated on the notion that there is 'management' as a seperate thing one can learn apart from the thing one is managing - such that an MBA can 'manage' a car company, pharmaceutical lab, hospital, day care, whatever, all in the exact same way with the same techniques for the same goals.
IOW, it fails to take into account that so much of the failure of American business started in the American business school - when they discarded facts for theory.

Odierno--maybe should be O-dunno In an otherwise upbeat assessment, Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, the second-ranking American commander in Iraq, told reporters that leaders of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia had been alerted to the Baquba offensive by widespread public discussion of the American plan to clear the city before the attack began. He portrayed the Qaeda leaders’ escape as cowardice, saying that “when the fight comes, they leave,” abandoning “midlevel” Qaeda leaders and fighters to face the might of American troops — just, he said, as they did in Falluja.
great...he calls them cowards for not walking into the meat grinder. That's why it is called guerrilla warfare and an insurgency.

That is both stoopiter and more offensive than Bush's November, 2001 (I think it was) declaration to the National Cattleman's Association that they were a vital part of National Security. 'Cause we need to eat.

Cheney tried to pull this shit when he shot that guy in the face.
He claimed that it was a private matter, and did not need to be reported. Of course, he did not mention the ambulance that has to follow Cheney around, and is paid by the tax payer.
He also refuses to reveal his travel expenses I have read somewhere.

mean, these folks are willingly ceding power to two dicks who constantly diss them.
It makes no sense to me.
Diane C. Barking-Mad
I think it's a high school desire to be liked by the powerful and part of the in crowd. Not unlike what happens on a tiny scale by people who want the powerful bloggers to like them and blog roll them.
Atrios isn't interested in my writing and my style isn't really what he is enjoys. That's cool. I don't care. Sure it would be nice, but all my threats and my bribes of quatloos aren't going to get him to change his mind. It's not that important to me. He cares about what he cares about.
Bush knows about this highs chool power of creating a group or gang of guys. Part of it is to "rank" the other guys. Call them names, insult them. He is the insulter in chief. He does it all the time with Ph.ds who he insults by saying "I'm the C Student and I'm the president."
The Ph.ds should tell him to go Frak himself. But they don't because they are polite and they probably want him to fund something.
This wanting to be accepted by people who dis you is probably related to the need for people to be loved and respected by their fathers. If they don't get the respect they try harder and suck up more. Yet if Bush was nice to them they would suddenly think, 'What is wrong with him that he likes a loser like me." Or they will suddenly become like Bush and bash the new supplicants.

In an otherwise upbeat assessment, Gen. Thomas Gage, the second-ranking British commander in America, told reporters that leaders of the so-called "Sons of Liberty" had been alerted to the Lexington offensive by widespread public discussion of the British plan to clear the city before the attack began. He portrayed the Sons-of-Liberty leaders’ escape as cowardice, saying that “when the fight comes, they leave,” abandoning “midlevel” Militia leaders and fighters to face the might of British troops — just, he said, as they did in Concord.

yup
the Brits were run out of the Jersies in the winter of 1776 to NY Island, because, as Washington's continentals were camped across the Delaware, the New Jersey folk started the "petit war" of ambuscades.
Washington picked up on how effective it was to corral small bands of Redcoats as they foraged (stold) the countryside for provisions (stealing farmer's pigs grains horses etc.).
These ambushes became the de rigor de facto warring mode of the nascent US army..

Play By Rules To Get Paid
VP Cheney must either play, or not get paid.

The VP must disclose the following: If he is not going to let oversight occur of the security issues, then the adverse inference: He is not providng an example for his OVP personnel to comply.
How many people has OVP shifted out of EOP/WH to remove COngressional oversight of operations?
Cheney apepars to have created, used, and asserted powers of Congress and Judicial Branch: Ruling making, rele interpretation.
The VP has arguably illegally asserted powers only reserved to Congress via Article I and the Courts via Article III. Members of the OVP must ask: If they are not within the law, what is theler legal defense?
Members of the OVP must decie whether you are going to follow the OVP leadership and defy the Constution; or whethher you will break ranks and being falling under the Constitution. There is only one choice. Prepare to lose if you do not comply.

Having Congress acknowledge Cheney's claim of an independent Vice Presidency is exactly what Cheney wishes. While it might seem "clever" to use Cheney's own position against him, if Congress acts accordingly, then the framing of the argument has been set. Congress needs to operate under the assumption that the VP office is part of the Executive and start supoena proceedings for whatever documents they wish. Or they should help foster law suits from the private sector.
