The claim of 1500 killed comes from unnamed South Ossetian sources, and they are also saying 90 wounded. Kills outpacing wounded by a factor of 17? I don't think so.

Georgia broke the cease-fire hours after it was signed with a massive artillery barrage of the South Ossetian capital. Russia went to the UN Thursday pushing for a diplomatic resolution, but it was blocked because the US did not like the wording. So in come the Russian tanks followed by air strikes in Georgia.
Despite the clever wording by CNN trying to pin the 1500 deaths on Russia, the Georgian's are the cause of the majority of deaths, and the victims are turning to the Russians. This is just another case of an American backed leader using brutal force against "their own".
Keep up the Russia bashing, I do love the enlightenment here. Not quite the level of the right wing sites, but still quite admirable.
