I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarDo I really want to read that?

GravatarAck!

Oh well.

Hot bottled water for dehydrated babies!

GravatarExactly what does it take to get fired from a job as political pundit? What would Matthews have to say or do to get fired?

GravatarGood morning lovely people. Did everybody sleep in?

Gravatar17 million voters must not be made more bitter than they are.

the 'crone' must be honoured by the 'young' man with victory handed to her on a platter.

AND

obama must retire her debt

AND

renounce his position on the ticket as her V.P. in deference to Bill Clinton our next

VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

GravatarTweety's a regular moron.

GravatarYes, it does matter.

And I'll shill my birthday tribute to a certain Minnesotan musician again.

Gravatar. Did everybody sleep in?

I think some had a sleep out.

GravatarTweety's "big Number" yesterday was 95, the per cent of times McSame voted as W wished in 2007.

GravatarGood morning lovely people. Did everybody sleep in?
Libby, lifelong Mets fan | Homepage | 06.07.08 - 9:45 am | #

No, I woke up at 3:45. The humidity is too high, and I don't have central air.

4 more months of this, AGH!

GravatarI wish I had a cushy job like a pundit, but I'm just a regular person.

Gotta get ready for work.

Y'all take care of your good selves.

Gravatarbeing co-dependent with bitterness is stupid.

GravatarHi, DWD; make it thru without twister damage?
plantsman

Never been a tornado here. We are too close to the lake. The barrier dunes drive the storms up and they settle again in Vicki's town about thirty miles away. (Of course have had water spouts - kind of fun and not very dangerous)

Never been over 100 degrees here either.

GravatarDid everybody sleep in?

I woke up at quarter to seven. I usually get up at 7:30 during the week.

But I've mowed the back yard, so I've done more before 9 AM than.....other Rowsdowers will do all day.

GravatarThen there is Howard Kurtz, who writes about the media for The Washington Post and is widely considered the most influential media analyst in the country.

Good grief.

Howie Kurtz is a moron. His only skill is knowing which side his bread is buttered on.
~

GravatarThe Lansing paper noted tornadoes, Barndog said they hit about 10 miles North and West of him.

GravatarMatthews has attacked Obama for shooting pool ("[I]t's not what most people play. People with money play pool these days.")

That will come as a surprise to every corner bar that sports a pool table.

GravatarDon't believe me? Almost immediately after Obama went over the top in the delegate count Tuesday night, Matthews began attacking him. Matthews went on an extended rant about Obama's purported inability to connect with "most Americans," because, according to Matthews, Obama has been poor, and he has been rich, but he has not been in the middle.
____

This is shocking?

GravatarYikes. All you busy people. I can't even compose a coherent sentence yet.

Hotter than Hades here, but sleeping is no problem with central air. It's the waking up part I'm not good at.

GravatarExactly what does it take to get fired from a job as political pundit? What would Matthews have to say or do to get fired?

Threaten the CEO of GE on air with a 16" dildo and explosives?

GravatarFuck:

On Wednesday, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) received an offensive t-shirt in the mail; the shirt had “a cartoon image of Curious George, the beloved children’s character, with a paper bag over his head holding a sign that says ‘A Truth We Can Believe in ‘08!!!’ written underneath.”

Sick.

GravatarThe t-shirt also says: “There are over 1,000 African American, Hispanic and other minority organizations in America. How many white organizations can you find? Or can you imagine what would happen every time one was made?” Mingled with the listing of the numerous black organizations is the Ku Klux Klan and two Hispanic groups.

GravatarThe worst of the racism is yet to come.

GravatarThreaten the CEO of GE on air with a 16" dildo and explosives?

Pfft...NTodd does that all the time.

GravatarThe worst of the racism is yet to come.

Maybe it will be so revolting to moral people that they will feel ashamed NOT to vote for Obama. . . .

I simply do not understand that attitude and behavior. My parents didn't raise me to even thinking of doing something like that, never mind do it.

GravatarThe worst of the racism is yet to come.

*sigh* Unfortunately, I think you're right about this.

GravatarMaybe it will be so revolting to moral people that they will feel ashamed NOT to vote for Obama. . . .

Don't count on that.

GravatarI hope so, DWD, I surely hope so.

__

there was something about the Kennedys, always champions of civil rights, endorsing BHO. Prophetic. He will indeed inherit some of the mantle of MLK.

GravatarThe worst of the racism is yet to come.

Well, let's speak up about it, then. There's too much at stake to let a couple of racists hijack an election.

GravatarI find myself hoping McCain stoops to it.

GravatarWell, let's speak up about it, then.

We are. Unfortunately. no one is listening. 38 people online.

GravatarI wish teevee dunditry was like American Idol and you could vote the idiots out of the Village.

GravatarHow many white organizations can you find? Or can you imagine what would happen every time one was made?
__

I don't understand "how many white organizations can you find"

Too numerous to count.

GravatarThe cashier at the market said of Obama, "It's not because he's African-American, there's just so much we don't know about Obama" like a good little concern troll, and I didn't believe a word she said,

I need to re-read the Political Brain by Drew Westen, but IIRC, one of the things he advocates is pointing out how morally repugnant things like racisms and misogny are. Seems obvious, but ...

Gravatar"It's not because he's African-American, there's just so much we don't know about Obama"

Translation - black people are scary.

I think he's going to be able to overcome that over time though.

Gravatar"It's not because he's African-American, there's just so much we don't know about Obama"

Gawd, I love that argument.

What else do these folks want to know about him? What size pants he wears? Who cuts his hair? If he's ever spit on a sidewalk?

A small segment of this country populate a lot of stupid.

GravatarI don't understand "how many white organizations can you find"

Too numerous to count.

Let's start that count with the Council of Conservative Citizens.

GravatarKeithO and Tweety are an odd pairing, and will be covering HRC's speech today.

GravatarI did say, " I was born in the South during segregation, and I don't ever want to see that again."

GravatarRe: race, since we're speaking up:

Clips from Rev. Wright's church reveal race from the other side, the subject from the pulpit being whitey, and the latest outrage perpetrated on the black community.

Whites aren't used to seeing this, knowing about this. Blacks are so used to the odd remark, sometimes made inadvertently by non-racist whites. It's just part of the culture, and understandable that black churches deal with it.

GravatarWhite people also often pretend that the Civil and Voting Rights acts made everything hunky-dory and all better for black people so they should "stop complaining".

GravatarWhen I hear racist comments from friends and neighbors, I ask them how many of their relatives were bought and sold like farm implements. Usually shuts them up.

Gravatar*there's just so much we don't know about Obama*

I love the coded statement. When we canvassed NH for Kerry, the statement upon answering the door was "I'm all set".

That meant "I'm voting for McGovern, and am not open to discussing it."

GravatarJust noticed the date 06/07/08.

GravatarMorning all.

And speaking of race, over at Box Office Crow T Robot ponders caucasian actors in non-caucasian roles.

I love when that happens.

GravatarMy hope and belief for this election is that Obama will bring 10 brand new voters that aren't even on the radar for every one of the racists who vote against him.

GravatarI'm with Jill on this one.

GravatarI recall when Kim Miyori was cast as a character called "Anderson" on St. Elsewhere , one of my favorite shows.

It's also the Purple One's 50th birthday today.

How many people are so sick of the way politics has been for the past 20 years that they haven't been voting? Have never voted? I hope some of those people will be motivated to vote.

Or, I hope.

Have I ever told you my theory about him?

I'm convinced he has a Bat Pole in his house....

GravatarAck. I'm going back to the gonzo porn section. It's much less sleazy than what I just read. The truth has been subjected to the mother of all bukakkes.

GravatarRalphie - we have some experience with this in MA. The Rethugs threw everything they had at Deval Patrick (defended a cop killer, sister's husband was a rapist (he raped her so I'm not sure where they were going with that one, guys in orange prison jumpsuits went to his house and his campaign managers house scaring the hell out of his 12 year old kid who was home alone at the time). It didn't work - Patrick kicked Kerry Healey's WASP ass right back to her polo grounds. It was beautiful.

GravatarI think he's going to be able to overcome that over time though.
Libby, lifelong Mets fan | Homepage | 06.07.08 - 10:05 am

Yep, and this is where the meet-n-greet and even just showing up comes into play.

Hardcore racists aren't going to vote for Obama.

But there are people at work who hate Bush and yet have no problem making the occasional racist comment, but who might actually be persuaded for the candidate who actually is most likely be in line with most of your positions.

GravatarAtrios: I found out yesterday I'm going to a conference in Minneapolis that starts tomorrow. I'll be in the city today sometime. Is there a meeting place/drinking establishment set for tonight. I'd like to stop in and say hi. Let me know. Thanks.

Gravatarpigs squealing on their way to slaughter....

'they' are threatened....truly and deeply looking at the very real possibility that the enormous edifice that is the status quo is about to implode of it's own weight...they inadvertently dismantled their precious "middle class" and now it's too late.

Bitter? Wait. This thing is just getting started. as the economy unwinds and people are scrambling to keep/find work, keep their mortgages up to date, and afford the gas to pull it all off, the temptation to scapegoat will be high. But 'more of the same, vote or mccain, the right change' probably won't be too attractive.

GravatarI did say, " I was born in the South during segregation, and I don't ever want to see that again."

But, as I recall from years in the Redneck Riviera during the `80s, racism didn't go away with desegregation. It just went underground. I even heard Seminole Indians shitting on blacks every chance they got.

It surprised me, when I arrived in the Southwest, to hear people with Hispanic surnames dissing Mexicans. Here, it's seen in the Hispanic community as a badge of superiority to claim to be pure Spanish Hispanic. Indian (mestizo, derogatorially) blood is seen as adulterating (even though a check of the regional genome would indicate that almost every Hispanic here has some Indian genes).

One of these days, we're actually gonna figure this out and put it in the past....
