I liked it yesterday when Lindsey Graham thought he was having a Perry Mason moment, but it's was more like an Oliver Hardy moment. I like it when the Fox guy introduced him as a [former] JAG Officer. I heard it as 'jack off'. After listening to Lindsey for a while, I figured out that i had heard it correctly the first time.

Two factors made Souter a liberal. First, the extreme conservatism of the Five of Nine, in reference to which he (and Stevens, a Republican Ford appointee) appeared farther to the left than they are. Second, his respect for stare decisis. He was unwilling, absent compelling reason, to vote against precedent. And Rehnquist and Roberts frankly invited opportunities to overturn prior decisions with whch they disagreed.

''' JERUSALEM -- Israeli combat soldiers have acknowledged that they forced Palestinian civilians to serve as human shields, needlessly killed unarmed Gazans and improperly used white phosphorus shells to burn down buildings as part of Israel's three-week military offensive in the Gaza Strip last winter.
In filmed testimony and written statements released Wednesday, more than two dozen soldiers told an Israeli army veterans group that military commanders led the fighters into what one described as a "moral Twilight Zone" where almost every Palestinian was seen as a threat. '''

Wait a minute. Your man, Barack Obama, apparently hasn't really wanted to go into any of this either.
But because these revelations continue, Obama must at least make it look as if he's going to do something about them. We'll see what actually gets done. Not much, I'll wager.
Let's tell it like it is. The Democrats are protecting Bush and his band of criminals and thus protecting their beloved two-party system.

"Miller claimed that “liberals are trying to co-opt” the term, but they haven’t “completely commandeered it” yet, so conservatives should “start claiming progressivism on the right too.” Kristol agreed, citing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s frequent use of the phrase, “progressing Alaska forward”:
KRISTOL: And I agree with you. What’s progressive about heaping tax burdens and energy costs burdens on working class and middle class people in a tough economic time? I mean, who’s really for progress? People make fun of Sarah Palin, her grammar’s not so good some times and she’s always talking about “progressing Alaska forward.” It’s not a verb I usually use, but maybe she’s on to something in the notion that conservatives should not give up the notion that they’re the progressive force now in American politics."

Paying for Health Care by Destroying the Economy [Veronique de Rugy]
That' pretty much the plan laid out by House Democratic leaders. In order to pay for the $1 trillion health-care plan, they won't be cutting spending (it's probably too 1990s for today's lawmakers) but they will be imposing new taxes — surtaxes in fact — and fees and penalties. Finally, America will become like its European counterparts, a place where it's painful to work hard and be rewarded for it.
Your hoity-toity name tells me that you've never done a day's work in your life. I hope they strip you of all your ill-gotten gains and force you to beg on the streets.

MADRID – A Spanish woman who deceived a U.S. fertility clinic about her age and become the oldest woman to give birth has died at 69, leaving behind 2-year-old twins, newspapers reported Wednesday.
Maria del Carmen Bousada gave birth in December 2006 after telling a clinic in Los Angeles that she was 55, the facility's maximum age for single women receiving in-vitro fertilization. Guinness World Records said the 66-year-old was the oldest on record to give birth and the case ignited fierce debate over how much responsibility fertility clinics have over their patients.

Compassionate conservativism is the same thing. Progressivism is in both parties, and that is the cancer that you need to educate yourself on and know what it is so you can fight it and irradiate it. It is — and you can find the beginnings of it. A great place to start is a book, it’s just come out in paperback I think tomorrow, or maybe it was out last week. Yeah, this is why I think the narrative around 9/11 is so mistaken. It's not about protecting US, it's about protecting THEM. Hence nobody among the power brokers gives a shit about war crimes or torturing people to death.
If we protested like they're doing in Iran, we'd be machine-gunned in the streets by the thousands and the press would dutifully report how the alert gov saved us from a terrorist mob.

Prior to Bush II, I cut Ford slack for pardoning Nixon. I bought into the B.S. that it was the right thing to do to heal the country.

Nixon should have gone to prison for about 10 years.

Not only are the civil liberties wrongdoes of the last adminstration investoigated -- Barack Obama's domestic agenda on the economy and health care reform gets destroyed in the bargain because you now have a massive media distraction that takes away from those two major issues.
You think Greenwald is going to fight for the public option? Hell know. He probably regards it about as favorably as a health insurance company executive.
There is plenty of time to go after Bush and Cheney AFTER health care reform is passed.

Chris, I don't think I can spare any dough at the moment, but I have a couple of suggestions.
Both Small Dog Electronics in Vermont and Shreve Systems in Shreveport, LA sell, I believe, parts for Mac computers (definitely Shreve does.) I've repaired my old machines with bits from these guys. If you can do the labor (and putting in a new power supply is easy, I bet you've done it more than once) you can save some money. But you're probably planning to go this way already.
If my finances improve in the next week or two, you'll be hearing from me.

Jeremy Scahill has it right: http://rebelreports.com/post/141...y-
assassination
Congress is outraged that Cheney concealed a CIA program to assassinate al Qaeda leaders, but they should also be investigating why Obama is continuing—and expanding—U.S. assassinations.
The Obama administration has not only continued the Bush policy of using drones to carry out targeted assassinations, but has also continued the use of prisons where people are held indefinitely without charge or access to the International Committee of the Red Cross. Under Obama, Bagram air base in Afghanistan is expanding and, at present, hundreds of prisoners are held there without charges. In essence, the Obama administration is doing exactly what this secret CIA program sought to do, albeit out in the open.
It is long past due that the Congress investigate this U.S. government assassination program. The politically inconvenient truth, however, is this: An actual investigation would require the Democrats pounding Cheney over his concealment of an assassination program (that allegedly was not implemented) to focus their investigation on how President Obama actually implemented and expanded that very program.

Sorry you're in a bad way Chris, wish I could help. Hey, pick me as your charity for the extra money.
Do you think karma is involved? I only ask because I too hate, just like you hate, that mess from the great state of Texas TCB S&S. But I fear the hate is bad for me, and it isn't afecting TCB at all. What do you think, does your hate hurt you? Or is it good.

"Indeed, Liz Cheney served two stints in the State Department while Dick was up to his illegal and largely still unknown secretive actions. And she wasn't stationed at the Iceland desk. She had responsibilities directly related to "diplomacy" in the Middle East.
In 2002, Liz was appointed to the "vacant" position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern [Middle-Eastern] Affairs. In 2005, after taking time off from the State Department to work on her father's re-election, she was named Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State For Near Eastern Affairs. In 2006, Liz became the head of the State Department Iran Syria Policy and Operations Group"

My mom had here Revere Ware last - so wehn I needed some for my most recent housing arrangement, I was delighted to find a large BOX of it (skillet, two pots, a couple lids, and some cheaper brand stuff) all for $5 at a garage sale.
I bought one of those "greenpans" at Target last year, I'm pretty happy with it. Even if half the claims about the thing turn out to be so much greenwashing.

State Attorney General Anne Milgram is looking to hire some unemployed lawyers. She just can't pay them. Officials yesterday announced a new program where lawyers and law school graduates would volunteer at the state Division of Law for at least 20 hours a week and a minimum of three months.
