gak; ' Who can forget Rep Steve King’s horrible words about Obama back in Iowa?
King: “And I will tell you that, if he is elected president, then the, the radical Islamists, the, the al-Qaida, and the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11….
Well, he’s baaaack. In one of the most reprehensible lines of questioning today - and Lord knows there were many as Republicans desperately try to outdo each other on who can cover Bush’s ass best - GOP stooge Steve King takes the cake with this gem:
gotta do breakfast now. l8r, thinking people types.

What's wrong with dancing in the streets? A lot of white Christian moderate Americans will be dancing in the streets if Obama gets elected.
Getting the Islamofascists to boogaloo could be the first step toward a brave new world where EVERYONE boogaloos!
Or not.

Why, sometimes, the Daily Kos is really, really silly. Still, as disappointed as I am about what passed the House, I suppose it's good to focus on Obama's intent to run as a candidate from the center. Too many people have too many unwarranted expectations about what Obama would do as President. At the same time, Obama is sending a clear message that he intends to run pragmatically, and has the toughness to do so. Whether it's FISA or campaign finance, that means making some people unhappy.
Ummm, DemFromCT, it does not take toughness to ignore a few Americans on the web who understand the issues and want their politicians to be responsive to the law in favor of going along with the majority who simply do not bother to try to understand things because, "It's complicated."
Sheesh. (Not even done with the first cup and I am pissed already)

From Digby
I do know this: they would not have made this "compromise" and then brought this to the floor without his ok, and probably without his direction. He is the leader of the Democratic Party now, in the middle of a hotly contested presidential campaign. If he didn't come to them and say to get this thing done before the fall, then they came to him and asked his permission. That's just a fact. They aren't going to do anything he doesn't want them to do.
So, it's not really a capitulation. It's a strategy.
