I have never learned enough about the situation to take a side, except that Israel seems as hostile as any Palestinian, people are dying for where they want to live, and something that is ingrained into their cultures for thousands of years is not going to go away without a profound shifting of attitudes that I simply don't see coming.

When will the failing U.S. economy become President Obama's problem? To date, the president seems immune to criticism of his handling of the economy, except from conservatives. Job losses continue to mount, despite his promises that his "stimulus" plan would create jobs and stop rising unemployment. The housing market shows no sign of imminent recovery, with prices continuing to decline and more homeowners falling behind on their payments. Retail sales fell again in June, with even value stores like Costco experiencing drops in sales. And the federal debt has risen under President Obama to its highest level as a percentage of gross domestic product since the U.S. was coping with the debt incurred in World War II.
The average citizen isn't as giddy and immature as you are, Ms. Chavez.
It will take Obama at least eight years to correct Dumbya's mistakes. After he does, he will be appointed President for Life.
My wife was telling me she read of a CIA staffed assassination squad that Pork Chop had put together that reported only to him.
Anyone else hear anything about this?
Oh, and wondering why it is that I never see squirrels wearing little Doc Martins, but everyone of them that runs across the roof has them on.

The Red Queen, my gf, is currently in the Depths of Despair because (bear with me here) her ex-husband's replacement wife (over a decade now) is planning the 21st birthday party for their (the RQ and her ex) daughter.
All they asked is that we share the costs. Seemed fair to me, but the RQ is now Emotionally Devastated over not being asked to Lend a Hand. And that the Replacement Wife is now Devastated over the RQ's Devastation?
Did I mention that this party is tomorrow? And all of this bullshit got stirred up over a single phone call yesterday?
Argh. Do NOT need this. Do NOT WANT.

And what horrors will the Obama administration perpetuate?

Also (this is a bit more apropos, from later in the same article. It speaks to the need to remove both the executive and the legislative branches from classification decisions):
"The authority to classify, practice redaction, and declassify national security and intelligence information must be wrested from the executive branch, and legislative branches of government, and the People of the United States themselves must be given the determining role in making such decisions. For so long as no real removal of the influence of money in federal elections takes place, neither the executive nor the legislative branches of american government can be trusted, separately or together, to perform their constitutional duties.
History has amply shown the executive branch will abuse this power, and equally has shown the legislative branch unable and unwilling to excercise their own constitutional and statutory oversight responsibilities.
If the American People do not now take back their government from the corporate powers that have hijacked them, noone will do it for them. And all future generations will have those now living to blame."
Bottom line: This stuff won't be fixed until neither the executive nor the legislative branches have any say in national security classification issues. It's a defective design from a security / accountability / auditability standpoint. This role should vest in the Citizenry at large.
