GravatarThousands of Turks have protested against a Kurdish group after a call by the army for a public show of opposition to separatist violence.

Protesters marched silently through Istanbul on Saturday, waving Turkish flags and carrying posters with the pictures and names of soldiers killed fighting the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

"No to terror" and "We are all martyrs for this country" read their placards. Police and organisers did not give figures but reporters estimated the crowd at around 2,000.

GravatarWASHINGTON -- The U.S. may be able to reduce combat forces in Iraq by next spring if Iraq's own security forces continue to grow and improve, a senior American commander said Friday. He continued, “When the swallows come back to Capistrano we believe the time will be right for the troops to come home. After all, what could possibly go wrong between now and then? And you will notice that we purposely did not use the much maligned six month figure. This is actually about eight months. Those two months will make a world of difference! Just you wait and see. Besides, when have we ever been wrong about this war in Iraq?”

Rudy

I do.

It has far superior fiber and nutrient. A sprout is a baby plant and just as a baby's amniotic fluid, the sprout contains the seedling's provisions for growth, sprouts have a huge ratio of nutrient compared to the unsprouted grain.
And so much yummier!

Heh, when my father was in the US Army in WWII, he had the opportunity to converse with some German POW's who had served on the Russian front. They complained bitterly that when they would get pulled back from the front lines for "rest periods", they didn't get a chance to rest, because the Russian women & children would attack them. GravatarChildren as young as six are being used by the Taliban in increasingly desperate suicide missions, coalition forces in Afghanistan claimed yesterday.

The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), to which Britain contributes 5,000 troops in southern Afghanistan, revealed that soldiers defused an explosive vest which had been placed on a six-year-old who had been told to attack Afghan army forces in the east of the country.

Yeah, if you' re noticing that the talking point has morphed a bit from its original presentation, it has. Fox head Ailes first decried that "candidates that can't face Fox, can't face Al Qaeda.

It was probably big enough to feed everyone on line at this moment. I find that annoying.

Some years ago I left Carnegie Deli with half a comparably priced corned beef sandwich... when I thought for a second, I realized that I had no place to keep it and was getting breakfast the next day before leaving in the afternoon, so I gave it to a panhandler.

He skipped and danced like Gene Kelly, across the street.

Gravatarraq's prime minister has said he supports the policy of arming and training Sunni Arab tribesmen to fight against al-Qaeda.

In an interview with Newsweek magazine last week Nuri al-Maliki said that arming Sunnis risked creating new militias, but on Friday he said he had been misunderstood.

"The government is not afraid of armed tribes, it is afraid of the chaos and ill-discipline that may lead to the presence of new militias," he said in a statement.

"This must be done under the supervision of the Iraqi authorities and through the government."

The White House said Friday that, like Vice President Dick Cheney's office, President Bush's office is exempt from a presidential order requiring government agencies that handle classified national-security information to submit to oversight by an independent federal watchdog.

The executive order Bush issued in March 2003 covers all government agencies that are part of the executive branch and, although it doesn't specifically say so, was not meant to apply to the vice president's office or the president's office, a White House spokesman said.

It's a good idea for Democrats to stay away from FOX. FOX viewers are not going to vote for them anyway, so there's no point in going there.

Reminded me of this:
"The clock on the Catholic cathedral strikes the hour with weighty confidence: 2am. More than a minute passes— 75 seconds to be exact— and only then does the Orthodox church chime it's own 2am. A moment later the tower clock on the Bey's Mosque strikes the hour in a hoarse, faraway voice; and it strikes 11, the ghostly Turkish hour. The Jews have no clock, so God knows what time it is for them...Thus division keeps vigil, and separates these sleeping people, who wake, rejoice, and mourn, feast and fast by four different calendars..."

Gravatar Removal vans were in Downing Street yesterday as Tony Blair became embroiled in another "freebie" row over his rent-free use of Chequers after he quits office next week. The Blairs are already preparing for their departure from Downing Street after 10 years; Mr Blair will hand his seals of office to the Queen on Wednesday after his last session of Prime Minister's Questions.

But it emerged yesterday that Gordon Brown, who will take over as Prime Minister, has given the Blairs the use of the prime minister'smansion in Buckinghamshire until the Blairs' £3.6m London home at Connaught Square is ready. The 1,000-acre estate costs £1,738 a day to run.

As preparations for next week's move took place, the removal men started putting boxes in a van outside No 11. Although this is the Chancellor's official address, the Blairs have lived in the flat above No 11 for the past 10 years because the flat over No 10 was judged too small.
