Nothing doing! No 'bygones' for the war-mongering crowd.
That's right: war critic doesn't mean the same as war-opponent. A war critic criticizes the war's execution. A war critic does not necessarly disagree with the fact of the war.
Very nasty people these war-mongering war critics.

Most of the so-called critics have always been for some Wilson manifest desiny fucking American imperialism. They have just argued over which brown or yellow people to kill first. The true war critics, those who think a little more diplomacy might work, those who are against war as a way of hijacking oil and other resources, those who don't like their taxes dollars being spent on an ever-enlarging military-industrial complex; they were effectively shut out of any debate.

Respectable Murtha?
Not after he said that:
Bill O’Reilly, Fox News, 6/26:
Murtha has lost all perspective and did months ago, but his message is firmly entrenched in America’s far-left precincts. … [T]hat kind of extreme thinking, based on little evidence, by the way, is putting all Americans in danger.
Tucker Carlson, MSNBC, 6/26:
What is really going on here, and you know it as well as I, is that Jack Murtha has been intoxicated by the amount of publicity that he has gotten from his anti-war crusade, and he has become progressively more unreasonable, progressively more left-wing as the days go on, and he is in the thrall of people who, I think, have hostility towards the United States.
Newt Gingrich, Fox News, 6/26:
For an American congressman to say that is beyond any acceptable behavior, and I would hope the Congress would move to censure him.

Unfortunately there is a degree to which this has always been true. Go back to the days of Reagan I (Bush Jr. is Reagan II) while he was hiring the slaughter of Central American and Southern African civilians.
Look at the media and commentary of the time, and as usual those who endorsed the basic policies and justified them but who disputed various aspects of how they were carried out, or how bloody they were.
Those who thought that, say, the U.S. should not in any way be attempting to overthrow or otherwise damage or destroy the legitimate government of Nicaragua, or that the U.S. should not be helping South African fascists destroy Angolan independence, were then like now dismissed as DFH's and objectively pro-Soviet.

Just you wait, Henry Hager.
Instead of proposing to Jenna, HH first asked permission of W. to marry his daughter, because he was brought up to follow the rules, his mother said, and after all, a 25 year old woman is her daddy's chattel.
Then again, maybe she is still a child:
"I thought you were proposing!" she hollered loud enough for everyone to hear. "I nearly [soiled] my pants!"

To immediately redeploy U.S. troops consistent with the safety of U.S. forces.
To create a quick reaction force in the region.
To create an over- the- horizon presence of Marines.
To diplomatically pursue security and stability in Iraq
This war needs to be personalized. As I said before I have visited with the severely wounded of this war. They are suffering.
Because we in Congress are charged with sending our sons and daughters into battle, it is our responsibility, our OBLIGATION to speak out for them. That’s why I am speaking out.
Our military has done everything that has been asked of them, the U.S. can not accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily. IT IS TIME TO BRING THEM HOME.

Amnesty International has confirmed its controversial decision to back abortion in some circumstances, replacing its previous policy of neutrality.
The human rights group will campaign for woman to have access to abortion in cases including rape and incest.
The initial decision was taken in April, but Amnesty delegates meeting in Mexico gave it overwhelming support.
Christian organisations, including the Roman Catholic Church, have threatened to withdraw support from the group.

america is an idea. an intellectual experiment. if a couple of conventional bombs in a couple of geographically minute places can truly destroy america... well, i'm just being redundant now.

Parents should be forced to take action to stop their children drinking alcohol underage, a police chief has said.
Chief Constable of Cheshire Peter Fahy spoke after four teenagers were charged with the murder of Garry Newlove, 47.
He said underage drinking was a "child protection issue" and parents must take action to stop it or face "sanctions" from the care system.
Ministers say there are already tough powers in place to compel them, such as parenting contracts and orders.

One of a set of 28-year-old identical twin sisters from Greenville was killed this week in Iraq while serving in the U.S. Army.
Now the rest of the family has gathered to mourn.
Zandra Worthy-Walker died during a mortar attack in Iraq. Her family learned Wednesday that she had been killed.
Yolanda Worthy, Zandra?s sister, is serving in Kuwait. She traveled home on emergency leave to be with her mother and had a tearful reunion at the family?s home on Friday evening.
"We were always, always together,? Yolanda Worthy said. ?Now it's like I'm by myself."
Connie Worthy, the twins? mother, said that she knew her fears had been realized when she saw a military chaplain at her door...
"When I went to the door, I knew it had to be one of them, so I said Kuwait or Iraq?," Connie Worthy said.
The family just suffered another loss. Exactly two months before Zandra was killed, another sister died from a cancerous brain tumor.
The mother and three surviving sisters said that funeral plans are still being finalized.

A suicide bomb attack on a US security firm convoy on the outskirts of the south Afghan city of Kandahar has killed 15 people and injured 20.
The bombing, the second suicide attack in Kandahar in as many days, took place on the main road heading west to the troubled province of Helmand.
At least six of the dead were civilians including women and children and at least three were security guards.
More than 3,700 people have been killed in Afghan violence this year.
