Maybe I'll still be proven wrong, but it seemed clear to me that the only outcome that Hillary would accept today is seating all of FL and MI as-is. And of course that was never going to happen, because it's completely indefensible - practically, logically and legally.
So necessarily, any compromise was not going to end the in-fighting. Given that's the case, they should've stuck to principle and let their original decision not to seat the delegates, stick.
There will probably just be a replay of this with the Credentials Committee.

Vicki, coming from you, that is pretty disappointing.
Why, pie? I think it's pretty true from what I've read. Granholm and Levin are vocal Clinton supporters. I've always felt that Granholm was interested in moving the primary forward to help Clinton. I do believe that Levin's motives were different, and for him, it was about the unfairness of Iowa and New Hampshire always going first.
My feelings about this have been pretty clear. I still feel, and I have from the beginning, that because the MI Democratic Party didn't play by the rules, the delegation should not have been seated at all.
She knew, he knew, we all knew that the votes weren't going to count - that's what we've been told for a year now. I don't know how you can change that. I voted knowing full well that my vote wasn't going to count.
This whole thing is a mess, on all levels, from the top down. The R&B Committee should have included a couple of early primary states this year, and they failed, too.
I'm glad they attempted a compromise, but it still isn't an actual reflection of the votes on that day.
I am sorry that I disappointed you, though, pie. I didn't mean what I said in a malacious way; it's just how I see things.

Was watching Noron O'Donnell's coverage of the "Delegate Drama" or whatever they're calling it.
Noron signs off. Then MSNBC shows an Avodart prostate pill ad about some guy who claims he works at a space museum and makes miniature models for a living. He shrinks things for a living. (Wonder where this ad is going?)
Then he says, he finds out he's got a "growing problem," his prostrate's growing.
He asks his doctor, "what can we do about this?"
The doctor says, "hey, man, you're the one who shrinks things for a living."
So the guy makes a miniature model of his prostrate. Or something.

She has been. She's been arguing quite explicitly that FL and MI should be seated as-is. She's been saying she will take the fight to the convention if necessary.
In fact, I don't know how much more explicit she could have been about this.
Thinking a compromise would resolve the matter, you'd have to assume you knew something about her motivations other than what she's been saying for months.

probably a good guess. no more nor less. personally, i don't care much one way or another. i'd have been happy for them to say 'rules is rules' but that wasn't likely to happen. of course she was going to push for a full decision in her favor.
it's one of the things the dems forget when dealing with repubs over the last 8 years: you don't start out a contentious bargaining session with a "reasonable compromise" because the other side is going to make you move further towards them no matter what. so you start out demanding everything.

Both Obama and Clinton can attack each other from the left.
I recently read a lot of long-winded, passionate arguments from a Clinton supporter about why she's the better progressive candidate. It was a refreshing change from "He's unelectable, keep chasing that unity pony you hypnotized sheep."
And I agree, in some ways, she is the better progressive candidate. But not all, and I assume you realize that.
That's the frustrating part of this whole mess. Neither of these candidates is in the clear on the progressive bona fides. They are both essentially centrist, but in different ways. Maybe slightly left of center.

It's a fairly constant refrain here from the early days of the campaign that "nobody can say why Clinton did or does something -- it's just speculation." The "argument" is apparently supposed to blunt off attacks about her dumbass vote for the Iraq war or various other dumbass statements.
Yes, of course, we could wait for Hillary to say something before guessing at what she's going to say. On the other hand, we don't have to. It's not "better" to wait. Guessing what she's going to say or do next doesn't matter one way or the other except ... it's fun. It keeps things interesting. It shows how predictable her behavior is, or isn't.

Obama has attended this church and supported it with donations running into tens of thousands of dollars. He's told us the church and its pastor emeritus, Wright, where CENTRAL to his development as a man, and as a politician.
I find it impossible to believe that one so involved in this church and its welfare, does not share its philosophy. Of course he does. That is HIS world view, too. It must be, because no one in their right mind would put that sort of effort, and become that intimate with a sect for 20 years, and NOT share its outlook on the world.

And it's not a good enough reason to nominate the less qualified person.
There's no single reason that Obama would be the nominee, apart from his accumulating the minimum required number of delegates first.
I don't mean that I think Obama should be the nominee because I care about the downticket races. I mean that I don't care whether Obama or Clinton is the nominee, and I've cared about the downticket races all along. If that makes sense.

i guess i see a difference between guessing what she is likely to say and attacking her for it before she has. and that's what i've perceived happening.
i haven't defended clinton on the basis you said, and i am not a clinton supporter. i'm a far left progressive semi-socialist hippie who believes in an immediate end to u.s. hostilities in the mid east, a constitutional amendment guaranteeing the rights of gay couples to marry, and a 100% universal not-for-profit government run and funded health care system. which it doesn't look like we are going to get.
