Sumner Redstone, CEO of Viacom and thus in charge of CBS, was for decades a major Democratic contributor while becoming a billionaire.
In 2004, he openly supported Bush, saying it was an easy choice since basically it was best for business.
All the big media outlets - ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN - are owned by huge conglomerates who both in their broadcast and cable interests curry as well as their overall business curry favor to the Bush cabal. That includes shaping the news to toe the line as much as possible.
That is why MSNBC, for example, has only Keith Olberman (an accident they don't care to repeat), CNN has Glenn Beck, et al. They don't care if they lose money on these efforts. It's all part of a bigger plan.

some ideas from below
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We just need an amendment that explicitly removes campaign contributions from the realm of protected speech and them sets forth an enforceable system of public campaign financing. The enforceable part will be thge trickiest bit.
It's actually simpler than that: we need the tax code to forbid corp spending on lobbying or policy as deductible expense
