This time last year it was 35%. In 2004 it was in the high 40s.
In that same time period, those who self-identify as Demorats has reached 50%.

I agree with you, and that's what will make him a competitive candidate. But we're in a different media and cultural environment now. The cottage industry devoted to misrepresenting and disseminating slime about Democratic candidates functions very, very well.

On the rare occasions when a candidate's speech is broadcast or reprinted without interruption, it is always bookended with spin - and that spin always comes in part from people whose livelihoods depend on being able to talk shit about Democrats.
