Steve, since I can't comment over there, I'll do it here. I do believe you're missing the point in Tropic Thunder - Robert Downey Jr is NOT playing a "non-Caucasion" role - he's playing white Australian actor (he's described his performance as part Russell Crowe, part Daniel Day-Lewis), who's cast in a "non-Caucasian" role and who decides to get his skin darkened to do it. From what I gather from the trailers, much of the humor is from this character trying to "act black" and being constantly called out by the actual black actor. So the movie is making fun of the whole concept, is it not?

"I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So help me God!"

From Obama's web site, today:
Obviously, I am thrilled and honored to have Senator Clinton's support. But more than that, I honor her today for the valiant and historic campaign she has run. She shattered barriers on behalf of my daughters and women everywhere, who now know that there are no limits to their dreams. And she inspired millions with her strength, courage and unyielding commitment to the cause of working Americans. Our party and our country are stronger because of the work she has done throughout her life, and I'm a better candidate for having had the privilege of competing with her in this campaign. No one knows better than Senator Clinton how desperately America and the American people need change, and I know she will continue to be in the forefront of that battle this fall and for years to come.

In her speech, did she actually give a reason why we should support Obama, like specifics?
"The way to continue our fight now, to accomplish the goals for which we stand, is to take our energy, our passion, our strength and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama the next President of the United States. ... I endorse him and throw my full support behind him. And I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me."

It was great in so many ways. I got to shake her hand, and Bill's, and Chelsea's (and can I just say that if you think Chelsea's a knock out in pictures, you should see her in person. Wow.) I'm pretty wiped out from the heat and from standing all day, so it will be this evening before I get a post u about it. I got interviewed by a guy from Mother Jones who asked what blogs I read. I mentioned about 15 before his eyes glazed over.

Just because Obama is half black, doesn´t mean I have to vote for the man. I was just about getting over the way he was ready to sell the gays down the road at the beginning of his campaign, when he had to go show the world that he is Israel´s number one fan.
And, trying to shame people into voting for an idiot just because he´s half black, doesn´t work.
Nader has got my vote. At least he won´t be kissing any Israeli ass.

Yes, about five or six, followed each time by "And that's why I'm going to work to get Senator Obama elected president." Pretty soon, the crowd was yelling the line each time with her.

I wasn't an Obamaite, either. it's obvious that you can't comprehend what's written here, because your hate and racism blings you. Hillary lost me when it became clear that she had hired losers to run her campaign, and she was suffering in fundraising and by making stupid statements and stupid moves because of jerkoffs like Mark Penn and Asshole McCauliffe. There is very little difference between the policies of Obama and Clinton, unfortunately, but either one is a giant step forward for America. Obama is the winner, fair and square, and support for him over the insane sociopath McCain should be instant and automatic from any patriot. You are not a patriot.

plantsman, you just feel guilty about what your ancestors did to African-Americans. You think you can redeem yourself this way.
If Obama had shown he was going to be even a little big progressive, I would have supported him. His first instincts are always very fascist. It´s a very, very bad sign from someone who is going to have his finger on the nuclear button.

Obama won't put her on the ticket. He wants to remake the party and won't be able to do so with the Clintons on board. And I still say she'll have as big a role in Obama's campaign as he wants.
