I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarOY!l

GravatarWay to go Huggy Bear. Keep talkin'

Gravatarmememe, not mimi

GravatarI forgot how to type, or I would have been first.

GravatarUp there.

GravatarBTW, I have to say "Ironman" might be the "Citizen Kane" of Marvel Comic movies.

It's really good. Although I'll wait to see what Simels thinks.

Gravatarhe's talking about well oiled democracy

Gravatari looked at the picture or i woulda been first.

GravatarI guess I need to watch the video. He is making less sense than Bush.

Gravatar"It's not senility when we do it!"

--the Republicans

GravatarI think for sanity's sake I'm off for the evening.
"Pansy"!

Oh...did we go to war for oil? I thought it was because Jeremiah Wright made us do it.

Gravatar"I really don't know what the fuck I'm talking about."

/John McCain

GravatarStoopit day on teh intertubes.

GravatarUm . . . he needs closer supervision.

Or not, I guess. Tie an onion to your belt and go for it, Grandpa!

GravatarI got your energy policy

GravatarI'm seeing Ironman tomorrow. If I can find anyone to go with me.

Gravatarthat we will be talking about

favorably?

GravatarAnd a pony!

GravatarI thought we went to "war" to guarantee the "permanent majority" status of the Republican party... or, at least, a second term for Bush.

GravatarI'm gonna mud wrestle him!

Gravatarlol
Time for the DNC to fire up the ad machine. Obama is going to trounce this old stupid man.

GravatarAlan Greenspan said it wasn't politically correct for him to say it, but the Iraq War was about oil.

And now comes Straight Talking McCain, saying he'll never let the US fight another war for oil.

Do I see a trend here?

GravatarYeah, right.

GravatarToday I had the pleasure of having lunch with noblejoanie. What a great person!
Smart, funny, insightful.

We had lunch at the same place as when Trademark Dave set up the SF Meet and greet.

GravatarHo-Lee Carp.

Gravatarit's right behind door #3!

GravatarThe Iraq War is about oil? I'm shocked!

GravatarThis BILL MOYERS video about Wright and Republican hypocrisy is AWESOME!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=I...right_83964.asp

GravatarI'm seeing Ironman tomorrow.

Iron Man - Iron Man!
Does whatever an iron can!
Press a shirt? Anytime!
Pair of pants - simonized!

Gravatarmccain is going to pivot on the war. He will announce we have won and the troops can start coming home after the election.

GravatarWell, Mr McCain, it's a nice sentiment. Of course, there's no way in hell that you'll follow through. And never send troops to the middle east? The wingnuts and Israel lobby may not be too pleased.

And btw, you're looking and sounding pretty damn feeble.

GravatarI need more gameage. Reality is starting to intrude around the edges.

GravatarThat's OK, I'm sure a team of crack journalists will be along shortly to tell us what McCain really meant to say.

GravatarEchidne, et al...

Just sayin' that guy's paid too much to write for a bunch of hoo ha.

But your mileage may vary wrt his style.

Donkey dicks? Why, I think he sucks them!

However, I'm lucky, too, in that I'm actually paid pretty well to write for a living. I trip you all up so you can't tell the medical corp for which I write!

GravatarHey Virginia, reality bites, doesn't it?

GravatarToday I had the pleasure of having lunch with noblejoanie. What a great person!
Smart, funny, insightful.

She's GREAT. She's using the gift certificate that was donated for the silent auction while she's out there -- hope it's as lovely as it sounds.

Gravatarfokowi, the game is tomorrow. I thought it was today.

Gravatarspent the whole day at the Emergency Room.

damn good to be home.

GravatarHey Virginia, reality bites, doesn't it?
Sallyh, Grandmere Poissonniere

I'm *trying* to keep it at bay, but it's a pesky little bastard.

GravatarOops...gotta get my Cinco on. Later.

GravatarMrs. Ibrahim, kids all right?

Sorry to hear of this.

Gravatarspent the whole day at the Emergency Room.

damn good to be home.
mrs. ibrahim al-jafaari

Is the little one resting comfortably now?

GravatarEchidne, et al...

Just sayin' that guy's paid too much to write for a bunch of hoo ha.

But your mileage may vary wrt his style.

Donkey dicks? Why, I think he sucks them!

More than likely. Just saying that he has the sweetest deal I've ever heard of.

When I looked at freelancing writing gigs, the "well paying" category had stuff like "write ten posts a day, with pics for each, earn a total of twenty dollars per day."

He's getting something like a hundred dollars per word, I'd guess.

Gravatarspent the whole day at the Emergency Room.

damn good to be home.

Oh dear, are you okay? What happened?

Gravatardamn good to be home.
mrs. ibrahim al-jafaari | 05.02.08 - 8:10 pm | #

is your child ok?

Gravatarmrs. i -- what happened?

Gravatarspent the whole day at the Emergency Room.

damn good to be home.

Oh, crap. Accident with one of the kiddos? We had to do that a few times.

Hope all will be well

ER in Dover-Foxcroft, ME. Good times.

GravatarWho will come on the stage and pull my finger to start the great energy turbine....

GravatarSo John McCain is telling the Iraqis, "Forget what we said before--we're here for your fucking oil, doods."

Should endear us to the Iraqis even more.

GravatarHow can someone so assymetrical be a straight-shooter? America does not want lopsided.

Gravataralcohol and its metabolic by-products are really horrible stuff wrt the human body, especially a child's

remember, alcohol is just rotten something juice where something = grapes, fruit, grains, etc.

it's really terrible stuff and is associated with an increased risk of various types of cancer. I bet in about 10 years' time, alcohol will have the same rep as cigarettes do now.

GravatarWho's getting paid to 100 bucks a word?

With my long winded style I could clean up!

Gravatarthen welcome back to hell. email me at gmail sometime...

GravatarAnd I like how the media doesn't seem to notice that McSame is saying that his energy plan is to have an energy plan at some point in the future that we can talk about.

GravatarOperation

Iraqi

Liberation

Gravatar100 bucks a word? stephen king would write a 4 million page novel at that rate.

GravatarWe had lunch at the same place as when Trademark Dave set up the SF Meet and greet.

Jeez, ya couldn't do better than that?

GravatarLet me guess: coal fired motor carriages, atomic steam locomotives, nuclear toasters.

Gravatarmcbomb is done. put a fork in him. will be fun to watch msm try to prop him up for the next 6 mnths...

GravatarDaniel has croup. it was really really bad.

they gave him an IV, and some albutirol, and a shot of cortisone before we left.

the doc warned us tonight would be just as bad, but it will get better in a day or two.

GravatarThey're gonna have to sue CNN for reporting his words.

GravatarLet me guess: coal fired motor carriages, atomic steam locomotives, nuclear toasters.

More likely little treadmills with immigrants powering the toasters.

Gravatarit's really terrible stuff and is associated with an increased risk of various types of cancer. I bet in about 10 years' time, alcohol will have the same rep as cigarettes do now.
mimi

What does it feel like to be an idiot for so long, so frequently, and so often?

Alcohol is not comparable to cigarettes, you idiot.

The culprit in alcohol is the sugar. You post about shit you don't know.

GravatarDaniel has croup. it was really really bad.

Sending calm energy to you.

GravatarWho's getting paid to 100 bucks a word?

With my long winded style I could clean up!

Hey, you should be!

Why Media Matters doesn't swoop you up is beyond me...

Gravatari spelled that just the same way as i would probably pronounce it tonight.

long week.

GravatarDaniel has croup. it was really really bad.

Oh, so sorry! Poor little guy!

GravatarSorry, Mrs I. Croup sucks. I spent numerous sessions standing in the steamy shower with younguns with croup. (which seems to help, and is a treatment endorsed by Dr Mrs Gromit)

GravatarJeez, ya couldn't do better than that?

If I wanted to go up scale I had lots of places we could go, but I don't do upscale much anymore.

Gravatarfokowi at gmail?

sure. It looks like we have a few things in common.

I am fascinated with Lakota culture. If you believe that meme, it would mean I was an Apache in a previous life. Maybe even Mangus Colorado, what with him being so tall for an Apache.

GravatarMy friends, this blog sucks.

Gravatari thought lakotas were sioux.

GravatarAgain, the left will try to misconstrue McCain's remarks. McCain clarified what he meant today:

PHOENIX - Republican John McCain was forced to clarify his comments Friday suggesting the Iraq war involved U.S. reliance on foreign oil. He said he was talking about the first Gulf War and not the current conflict.

At issue was a comment he made at a town hall-style meeting Friday morning in Denver.

"My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East," McCain said.

GravatarMy friends, this blog sucks.
NTodd, Gams Man

If you can do better, start your own blog.

GravatarUh, Freudian slip?

GravatarMy friends, this blog sucks.

But, my friends, I have a plan. In the future all will be prevented from coming to this sucky blog.

GravatarI love that place! (I'm not talking about Lefty's) The other place, Lori's

Oh, that's different. My wife loves that place, too.

I don't have anything against Lefty's either, though I prefer Tommy's Joynt...

GravatarVicki, you should watch your mouth, especially when you're wrong.

Drinking Alcohol Increases Risk For Cancer
ScienceDaily (Feb. 1, 2005) — Consumption of alcohol, including wine, increases the risk of several common cancers, even though many studies confirm a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease from alcohol intake. An article appearing in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis presents definite evidence of these findings amongst other papers as part of an open forum discussion on wine, alcohol, and cardiovascular risk.

GravatarNTodd, Gams Man.

Who's the c*nt who says that this blog sucks? You're hair is thinning!

GravatarMcCain sure has to clarify a lot. It's almost like the senile old man needs a handler with him constantly to correct his blathering and change his diapers.

Gravatarfascination is merely the beginning...

GravatarModerate alcohol drinking, less than 25 grams per day, has a favorable role on cardiovascular disease risk," states Professor Carlo La Vecchia, co-author of the article. "[However] it is associated with increased risk of cancers of the upper digestive tract and larynx, and also of the intestines, liver, and breast." The article lists primary liver cancer, cancers of the female breast and of the large bowel in both sexes, as being associated with alcohol drinking. Further death from diseases including cirrhosis, chronic pancreatitis, hypertension and stroke are strongly related to alcohol drinking.

GravatarMrs. Ibrahim, so very sorry.

I, too, used to take Mlle into a steaming shower, and I'd throw some eucalyptus oil into a small container for the vapors.  Seemed to give her some relief.

Gravatarthough I prefer Tommy's Joynt...
dave™© | Homepage | 05.02.08 - 8:20 pm |

Hey! I was there with my family when i was a wee lass!

GravatarI want an energy policy that will prevent us from having to send our young men and women to blogs.

Gravataryeah, like i said below "stoopid".

on the other hand, looked at in a different way, it is sort of an honest duplicity.

GravatarVicki, It's nice to have a health educator among us. Spreads the burden in stomping out the stupidity.

GravatarMy friends, this blog sucks.

At least Atrios has a blog, unlike some people we know.

GravatarModerate sucks.

GravatarSo what is this chimp speak, "the economy will come home"...???

GravatarPoor Johm McCain. Those evil lefties are always quoting him word for word with the things that he says and that makes him look very senile and demented.

GravatarTrademark Dave. I have a soft spot for Tommy's Joynt too.

The meat is RIGHT THERE! They cut it in front of you!
Pastrami! Corned Beef! Buffalo stew!

Gravataratrios has a blog so cool that it runs itself!

GravatarНу, сколько времени в Москве?

GravatarVote for McCain! He has a secret plan to get us out of Vietnam!

Gravatarwell Gromit, it looks like you don't know everything because:

The analysis was based on a quantitative review, or meta-analysis, of 156 different studies, and heavy alcohol drinking was strongly linked to the diseases noted. The risks are shown to increase with the amount of alcohol consumed yet the overall evidence does not determine "whether there is any threshold, below which no effect is evident

GravatarWar On War Off, that's the problem.  It IS home, like an unwanted guest who never offers to replenish the beer or clean up after himself.

GravatarMrs. Ibrahim, humidity does help, so taking Daniel to the bathroom that has turned into a steamroom might make it easier for him to sleep.

Gravatarmimi, you stupid fuckin wanna be cunt with a very small penis, I know the pitfalls of alcohol. I work in healthcare. If you had a brain, you'd know that John Hopkins is linking most forms of cancer to sugar intake. Alcohol ends up being a form of sugar. And cigarettes will probably always be worse.

GravatarHe said he was talking about the first Gulf War and not the current conflict.

Good god, this is even insulting MY intelligence.

Gravatarthe 'sioux' nation comprised of like 7 separate? tribal cultures. among them the lakota...

GravatarНу, сколько времени в Москве?

GravatarOne other thing, y'all complain about the price of gas, war for mideast oil, etc., but your side refuses to allow drilling in this country, and holds up building refineries for the last 40 years.

So-called "new fuel" may take over but what they do not say is that it will take 100 to 200 years to completely get rid of oil.

Drill – Drill and keep our country safe from total destruction. Anythi

GravatarYou know who also had a handler to correct his misspeaks? Reagan. If the press won't do it for him he will need someone to correct him. Lieberman?

GravatarLiver cancer is relatively rare, you dumb fuckin wanna be cunt. Most people who have liver cancer haven't been heavy drinkers.

GravatarMcCain isn't the only goofy Republican, is he...

GravatarI saw this earlier. McOilCan is completely delusional.

His policy will prevent us from ever having to send troops to a middle east conflict again but he wants to stay in Iraq for a century.

I'm not sure I follow.

TexasFuckKnob, you want to try and explain what your boy is getting at?

Thanks in advance.

That's a republic canard, TexasDildoBoy. republics have been in the White House for 28 of the last 40 years.

The fucking oil companies will not build refineries, you lying sack of garbage. It's the spigot that allows them to keep inventories low and prices high.

Huh. My 2 y/o Son died of a rare liver cancer. Chances of him contracting this type:

1 in 5,000,000.

GravatarMcCain Energy Plan, wherein we shift our energy consumption away from foreign oil and thus reduce the need to send our troops into battle in the Middle East for ever and ever and always:

Step 1: Give a huge price margin bonus to the oil companies, cleverly disguised as a populist "gas tax holiday";

Step 2: Keep our troops garrisoned in Iraq, where they will be disgustingly easy targets for pissed off refugees from Step 3;

Step 3: Bomb the ever-lovin' hell out of Iran, to a boppin' Beach Boys beat

Step 4: OIL INDEPENDENCE AND PEACE FOREVER!

GravatarCancer that metastasizes to the liver, the brain, or wherever is not the cancer of origin, you fucking small dicked moron. As in, breast cancer that mets to the liver is still breast cancer, capiche?

GravatarA 10-year-old boy could face assault charges after the director of his charter school claims the boy made threatening gestures at him because he took rollers from the boy's shoes and would not return them.

The school's director, Wayne Millette, said today that Ypsilanti police were called to New Beginnings Academy on Thursday afternoon after the boy balled up his fists and was flailing his arms and legs. Staff had to retrain the boy who was not taken into police custody.

Millette said the boy's mother was called to the school at 211 W. Michigan and she took him home after speaking with police. Millette said it will be up to the school's attorney to decide what criminal charges if any will be pursued against the boy. However, Millette is recommending that the school board expelled the boy for the rest of the school year.

School policy does not allow students to wear roller shoes, Millette said.

(Bet the Public Schools were to blame for this one, eh?)

Nope. Not even close. When colon cancer survival rates increased dramatically in the late 80's was because the docs started treating the liver as soon as they began treating the colon.

He'll now be "tried" as an adult. The principal said she didn't realize how old he was.

This happened in January. They've yet to hear when they should take him to be fingerprinted.

The liver wasn't even an afterthough back then.

Gravatar...you stupid fuckin wanna be cunt with a very small penis.

GravatarYes Virgotext. I don't know enough about the new series. I'm pretty interested, but I think I should read a view of the book to get a better idea what it's about before I commit.

Today I did an on camera intercept interview for the State of California Earthquake authority. They asked my opinion on earthquake insurance.

I quickly segued into a conversation about FEMA and what a tragedy it was that the Federal Government failed so badly there and how I want California to learn from that experience. I said that I feel a kinship with the people in New Orleans and that odds are high I will have damage after a quake. I told them I wanted both well corrdinated local immediate response (after the 72 hours we are trained to be on our own) and that it is the time AFTER that I want them to do good work. I would be willing to by earthquake insurance if I knew that it went to making sure we didn't make the same mistakes that FEMA did in New Orleans.

GravatarWaaaaaait...Colby?

Yup, but 10 or so incarnations ago. Pre-lunatic fringe by 1 year.

GravatarMy sister is a GI NP, so she knows a bit about liver cancer and colon cancer.

Although there are several different types of breast cancer, lung cancer, etc., according to Val, there are very few types of colon cancer. That's why it's easy to treat if caught early. It's also slow growing.

Gravatarbilly b, you just made my argument for me.

they have to treat the liver because that's where it spreads.

Very much so. But a hell of a lot better than it used to me.

My grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1974 and had a mastectomy. A year later, the cancer had spread to her spine and she wwnt on chemo and radiation. The two blasted her.

At the time, the adage was the 'cure' is worse than the disease.

GravatarAt the time, the adage was the 'cure' is worse than the disease

My Mom was diagnosed during my freshman year in HS -1971.

Gravataryeah, i've known people that refused the treatment.

After a mastectomy, then a pneumonectomy 7 years later, my Mom refused treatment when she had yet another recurrence 18 months after that.

Nobody in our family questioned her decision.

GravatarAt the time, the adage was the 'cure' is worse than the disease

The cure was still worse a few years ago. That's why my mother refused treatment the third time.

She had a radical mastectomy and will take tamoxifen once a day for 5 years. One year after the diagnosis and every year since there's no sign of cancer. Buy her account, she doesn't feel the effects of the tamoxifen.

they've gotten much better at treating the side effects of the drugs, and at making drugs with fewer side effects. For example, fewer patients waste down to skeletal weights.

My ability to bridge the two and show the weak link of FEMA and what I want comes from understanding what my friends in New Orleans went through.

I wasn't as soundbity as it could have been but in the end I looked right into the camera and told them what I wanted.

I asked who the audience was for this video before I just rambled. When I knew who it was thought about what I wanted to tell them. What message they need to hear. Now I'll bet you 200 bucks that I'm the only one of the walk by interviews who bothered to do that. ( I found a six page page "Primer." a six page "General overview" and a forty-four page document on the economy. (I printed the overviews and will offer to print the others if they are actually interested)

But this is the problem, isn't it? There is more but a lot of people are too lazy, too computer illiterate, or simply not capable of finding out more.

GravatarObama has reacted to this Wright controversey the same way John Kerry reacted to being swiftboated.

No he hasn't.
NTodd, Gams Man

Agreed. I thought that he handled it as well as could be expected. The smoke (and no fire) was all media bs.

GravatarEat four or five hot dogs loaded down with jalapenos. That'll get you a fire in the belly, jack.
billy b

If you wait a while, it will not be the belly, eh?

(you will be wishing you had ice cream after those hot dogs)

GravatarAnd, I'm participating in Shutdown Day tomorrow.

The result will probably be a lot of sitting idly and staring, interrupted by occasional naps.
SteveNS

I'll be working an art show with the mister and Dear Friend, so I'll be marginally participating . . . after coffee with my morning peeps.

GravatarLet's start talking about the cost of the war especially in light of the current ar budget.

Bush should be forced to start bringing the troops home now. There are a number of credible plans that could be brought to Congress now. Why do we have to wait?

GravatarI'm participating in Shutdown Day tomorrow.

You'll never work in this town again.

GravatarHer transformation is a deep, yet unexplainable act of political genius.

The above might be the most asinine statement ever posted on the internets.

Well, at least since Elias, Mowmow, annie, and the Butler clan disappeared...

GravatarI'll be working an art show with the mister and Dear Friend, so I'll be marginally participating . . . after coffee with my morning peeps.
V for Virginia

Since I won't be around tomorrow, allow me to be the first to wish you good morning!

I love firsts.

Gravatarbtw, i see at least 95% of the Busheviks as more than a bit arrogant and self absorbed. As for whether they're spot on, So? suck on this!
Tom - 大肚腩

well, that's true too.

more is the pity.

GravatarI have a borderline mancrush on Steve Carell. Guy cracks me up.

I like him a whole lot more than I like Jim Carrey, for example. The mugging is so damn preschool.

Carrell strikes me as a lot more intelligent.

Ol' jack wouldn't know whether to shit or go blind...

Gravatarbudget?

What budget?

At this moment the interest on the public debt is half a trillion bucks/yr.

JUST THE INTEREST.

Gravatarres ipsa did the most awesome take on the Obama/Wright bullshit if you haven't read it:

Never enough

And Rmj wrote a great thing about it, too; I meant to bookmark it but forgot, so if anyone remembers his blog addy I'd love to have it.

GravatarWhite preacher damns America, no big deal, black preacher damns America and it's a fucking SCANDAL I tell you! Anybody want to take a stab at why the associations of black candidates count and the white folk get a pass?

Tweety skated very close to admitting, hell, as far as I am concerned he flat out said it, this shit works because these "regular people" Tweets is so fond of, are basically stupid. They are the ones who believe these stupid stories that get circulated by the likes of Rove; which Tweets and his ilk call smart plays because they "work". That they are deliberate lies and manipulation of the gullible masses bothers him not a bit, only that it works or does not work.

GravatarThe above

If she wins...remember I was the first to say it. We have been witnessing a genius politician these last few weeks. A force of nature must be respected.

GravatarI like him a whole lot more than I like Jim Carrey, for example.

Carrey's not in the same class as Carrel.

The scene in the 40 Year Old Virgin where he was getting a wax to remove his hairshirt was one of the funniest I can recall.

GravatarKathleen Hall Jamison on Bill Moyers' Journal (after opening segment when Moyers tries to explain and justify Rev. Wright's speech at the National Press Club) discussing campaigns. Talking about how Reagan rescued himself from charge of scary extremist by running bio ad over and over and over.

What Obama trying to do now--sitting down in quiet, rational manner with female reporters to explain him life. Trying to associate himself with the quiet, discoursive Wright of Wright's appearance on Moyers' Journal last Friday. Thoughtful and reassuring, identifying himself as civil rights lawyer. Remind people of '04 Convention speech, bring people back to their first exposure to Obama.

Sen. Clinton went on O'Reilly Factor, which Obama could not have done and meet his goals of appearing as thoughtful and nonconfrontational. Hillary's doing something very different -- went on most adversarial news channel toward her with most adversarial person there. She featured toughness, command of answers and mastery of detail, experienced enough to handle O'Reilly and handle the presidency. Showcased both's strengths.

KHJ said this year voters are becoming information seekers; they hear about appearances of candidates and take time to watch/listen. What's important -- will channel surf to places where the interesting candidates are, plus candidate also reaching regular viewers. Looking for extended time format which gives time to make case, away from soundbites. Breaking out of ideological enclave, appeal across party lines.

"Just folks" appeal -- pols always try to make connection with those less well off than they are.

Noting disappearance of Iraq Waq as issue.

Best ads have grounding in actual performance in past, which gives credibility to proposals being made for future.

Elizabeth Edwards on news scene -- bcz media want her to make an endorsement, along with her husband doing so as well. Her comments on McCain's healthcare proposal more powerful than any politician's right now; McCain offered change to his plan, now has response to preexisting conditions, but KHJ didn't specify what it was. (I missed that, Moyers was surprised as well.)

Pushing back against the notion that his plan would make it difficult for those with preexisting conditions to find an insurance provider on the open market, McCain said he would work with states to establish Guaranteed Access Plans -- even proposing a government-funded GAP.

Meh. Doesn't sound that great to me.

GravatarSo, the reason we are in Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11, nothing to do with Saddam, nothing to do with WMD.

It has to do with... oil.

Well, slap me silly and call me Mabel. Who would ever have thunk it?

GravatarI love when fans do little homemade videos that mesh perfectly with great songs.

I don't know if I can choose a favourite between this Grandaddy one or this New Pornographers one.

Both very keen.

GravatarWell, slap me silly and call me Mabel. Who would ever have thunk it?

heh.

The arrogant audacity of the statements coming from the republics as of late are enough to harelip the Pope.

GravatarI bet in about 10 years' time, alcohol will have the same rep as cigarettes do now.

I bet you're wrong. There is strong evidence that moderate drinking (1 or 2 drinks a day for men, 1 for women) is positively correlated with better health. Red wine in particular.

Gravatar12 meatballs for 9 dollars? Where? Where?

GravatarAdventus, aka RMJ

GravatarMcCain's health care policy is crap. I posted on it at the Nation blog in April. He is proposing nothing new and the things he is proposing have already been tried.

GravatarIf you wait a while, it will not be the belly, eh?

That's probably McCain's energy policy.

GravatarThank you, V for Virginia; and thank you, RIL.

If that lawyerin' thing gets boring, Res, you oughta be able to get a job at the Onion in a nanosecond.

That was Swiftean. Impressive as hell, funny, and a little too close to reality to cause belly laughs.

GravatarThe scene in the 40 Year Old Virgin where he was getting a wax to remove his hairshirt was one of the funniest I can recall.

Cracks my ass up no matter how many times I see it.

GravatarHere's the post I wrote on McCain's proposal.

GravatarThe 40 year old virgin is in a tv comedy which I think rivals any sitcom in tv history in regard to hilarity: The Office.

PHOENIX (AP) - Republican John McCain was forced to clarify his comments Friday suggesting the Iraq war involved U.S. reliance on foreign oil. He said he was talking about the first Gulf War and not the current conflict. At issue was a comment he made at a town hall-style meeting Friday morning in Denver.

"My friends,we went to Iraq to catch some rays and work on our suntans."

GravatarYou never call me any more. Are we breaking up? (Don't tell Gomez. You're the sidedish I wanted to eat but couldn't.)

ditto, 'cept for the 'don't tell gomez part'. and depending on the setting i am actually quite deliciously edible, but with some very strict cooking parameters...

GravatarOil.

Oil??

OIL???

Is that what this was all about?

I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

GravatarCracks my ass up no matter how many times I see it.

When Carrel started cursing the Korean chick killed me. And then she got pissed and called him a pussy.

Outrageous.

GravatarHere's the post I wrote on McCain's proposal.

Outstanding. And you back away from this: "What insurers would really love to do is to skim the cream off the market by only insuring the young and healthy," but it's precisely true -- if they could get away with it that's exactly what they'd do. Look at them digging through people's applications trying to find something, anything at all, to justify dropping their coverage when they get sick! And as you point out, the company with the healthiest subscribers wins the competition.

McSame's proposal has bone in its head instead of brains.

GravatarHoward Dean last night on TDS seemed confident that the dems will destroy the repubs in all three branches in Nov due to the past 8 years. I share his confidence.

GravatarFrom swampland comments
he truth is the best informative tool. that is why everyone should go out and rent the 1962 version of the manchurian candidate as they consider the merits of obama's campaign. i am not saying i am just saying. reach your own conclusions.

Gravatari dont think the profit motive should rule our health care system.

GravatarLessee... when that plan of McSame's is revealed, we will find that this goal will be met by:

1) Opening up oil drilling in the ANWR, and in every liberal stronghold in the country (watch out, SF, Cambridge, MA, Austin, TX).

2) Massive amounts of taxpayer money will be transferred to the oil companies for exploration, R&D and reorganization, thus relieving them of the onerous task of actually funding their own business operations and paying for the costs of retaining their monopoly on energy distribution.

3) Huge subsidies to coal companies to make liquid fuels, and to release millions of tons of CO2 in the extraction of oil from tar sands.

4) Massive payments to defense contractors to build hugely expensive aircraft so that we simply bomb countries into submission without ever having to send in a single soldier on the ground.

And, when all this has been accomplished, oil imports will rise only a few percent. And, the country will be broke. And, significant amounts of Manhattan and Florida coastline will be under water.

No matter. Whatever McVain comes up with, it's going to be a doozy.

Gravatari dont think the profit motive should rule our health care system.

the profit motive rules everything.

In a humane society it wouldn't.

GravatarV for Virginia , mwah. Thank you. I have to go for dinner but I'd love to talk more about the issues later.

GravatarIn a humane society it wouldn't.
Bobby St. Chomsky

Well, that sort of rules this one out, eh?

GravatarSchism in the ranks of the Evangelicals?

GravatarSo, did y'all see Bill Moyers? I'm a little suspicious of Kathleen Hall Jameson. She pulls her punches big time in my opinion, and falls short.

There was a question something about why journalists don't question pols, and her answer had to do with access, but she never said anything about the agendas of their corporate overlords and media ownership. Had she said "Hell, GE and Microsoft pWn them all" I would've given her more cred.

He spent too much time on the two guys with the book, although the book is probably a good effort, and showed Feith to be the clueless goof that he is.

Gravatarand dobson wouldn't sign it.

big surprise. not...

GravatarIf he's sincerely progressive, and I hope and believe he is, Obama will only be able to begin to turn America's gaze toward a humane landscape during the next 8 years.
