All you need is a computer with a (warning techno buzzword ahead)
802.11 wireless net hardware or a pcmcia (pc card) slot to put an 802.11 card in.
I'm sure some techno savvy people could argue which 802.11 protocol is necessary, but 802.11a is the most common.

If they are old they might not have wireless built in, but you would need an add on card. Called a PCMCIA card.

I've got a sat connection, and that sometimes is about the worst kind.
Sat connections are excellent for streaming media (about all they are good for, they are extremely high latency connections, which means from the time you click on a link you'll have to wait at least a half second and generally for 1.5 seconds before the connection responds), but most sat providers will hit you almost immediately with a FAP (fair access policy) slowdown if you use much streaming media. FAP is a sat buzzword for we have bandwidth but if you use it, we'll choke your connection down to a crawl.
Of course if you pay an extremely high premimum for the connection, you might be able to avoid the FAP catch 22.
Look long and hard for other broadband connections before committing to a sat connection contract.

When I was on Aruba, I was struck by how beautiful the showgirls were. They all looked like they were a healthy weight, and none had breast implants.
Hubby was drooling.
Ditching the bed idea, there are lots of places like libraries and cafes where you can wirelessly connect for free, and others (mainly restaurants and less friendly cafes) where you can connect for a nominal fee. In these cases you don't need to worry about buying and setting up a router.
And yes - she is still gorgeous.

I'm very happy with my Toshiba Satellite laptop, and I hope it lives forever. Or at least long enough to outlast Vista. The HP I had prior to this had one issue. The little prong inside the hole where you plug the power cord broke off, and cost around $90 to repair. The repair lasted less than a year, and then it never would recharge reliably. I used to put heavy duty rubber bands around it to try to hold the plug in tightly enough to get a connection.

Well now then terry that is another story all together you are going to need a router and of course you have to decide what kind of wireless router to use. I like to recommend the 802.11 N or Pre-N using Mimo technology. They have a much greater reach so you can get wireless all over your huge house and in the back yard. And when you install it don't use WEP that is old go with WPA at the least using 128 bit encryption. That stands fro Wi-Fi Protected Access(WPA).

If you are out in the sticks you are much better off with a long distance wireless connection. I had one for about 3 years when I lived in Montana, and was very satisfied with it. Even though the antenna on my house pointed at a access point about 15 miles away on top of a mountain, it even worked in blizzards. It may have glitched occasionally but most outages only lasted for a couple of seconds.
There were a couple of times a microwave link going to that mountaintop got blasted by winter wind storms, but the ISP company I got the link from would have things back up, within 24 hours at the worst.
When the sat contract expires next month I'm going with a new wireless ISP. Unless they are lying, they provide at about the same price I'm paying for the sat connection 3 Mbits/sec. Not bad for a net connection when you live far out in the desert amongst the rattlesnakes, roadrunner birds, cactus, and ocatillo.

My point was that the entertainment industry has only a handful of roles for older women, and even those women are expected to be wrinkle-free and plastic-breasted. You can decide not to go that way,sure, but then you might never act or sing or dance again.
