Excuse me, but I have to go grind up the Feen-A-Mint and Geritol tablets used to sprinkle over the top instead of Parmesan cheese. I've retitled the dish, tho. Bob Woodward's book gest reviewed in the TImes:
In a stinging epilogue, Woodward concludes: “For years, time and again, President Bush has displayed impatience, bravado and unsettling personal certainty about his decisions. The result has too often been impulsiveness and carelessness and, perhaps most troubling, a delayed reaction to realities and advice that run counter to his gut.”
SOME will deem this judgment obvious and long overdue.

'Overrated' warnings
Democratic Rep. Pete Stark of Fremont, a former banker, said he probably will not support it, calling dire warnings of a credit meltdown "grossly overrated."
"I think we are being railroaded in the same manner we were to vote for Iraq," Stark said. "The banks of the Bay Area are in good shape, and they're bailing out Wall Street for $700 billion. It's irresponsible and reckless."
Stark said he has been working to get a third of that sum for universal health care, and that with $15 billion, all Californians could have health insurance. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/ar...L&

It's hilariously predictable that a lot of teh media pundits once again have to pretend to follow along with the "McCain won" talking point from Rove, even after such a blowout and with all the public polls showing the exact opposite.
The only reason they cite? McCain seemed "manly". That's it -- that's all they have. Maybe they should just buy a gay hooker for a night instead of projecting so hard on to McGrampa.

today gallup out...obama gains another point:
"These results, from Sept. 24-26, are almost entirely based on interviewing conducted before Friday night's first presidential debate. This suggests Obama was moving into a slightly better positioning as the two met in Mississippi to debate foreign policy matters and the economic crisis. The five percentage point lead for Obama in today's update is one of his best in recent weeks, just short of the six-point advantage he had in Sept. 17-19 polling."
also, rasputin today has him at a historical hi8gh and lead, 50-44.

Paul Newman was just a great person = what couldn't he do?. He made a film here in Montreal in the 70's (Altman's, Quintet) and every year since he's donated money to one of the city's more effective charities - I believe he's done this for all the cities he's found himself a part of.
I watch Slapshot whenever I get depressed - the guy Newman plays in that movie reminds me of my Dad.
