He also refuses to reveal his travel expenses I have read somewhere.

Who's dissing the military here?

GravatarIn an otherwise upbeat assessment, Gen. Thomas Gage, the second-ranking British commander in America, told reporters that leaders of the so-called "Sons of Liberty" had been alerted to the Lexington offensive by widespread public discussion of the British plan to clear the city before the attack began. He portrayed the Sons-of-Liberty leaders’ escape as cowardice, saying that “when the fight comes, they leave,” abandoning “midlevel” Militia leaders and fighters to face the might of British troops — just, he said, as they did in Concord.

Insurgent leader John Hancock replied "bite me".

It makes no sense to me.

Diane C. Barking-Mad

I think it's a high school desire to be liked by the powerful and part of the in crowd. Not unlike what happens on a tiny scale by people who want the powerful bloggers to like them and blog roll them.

Atrios isn't interested in my writing and my style isn't really what he is enjoys. That's cool. I don't care. Sure it would be nice, but all my threats and my bribes of quatloos aren't going to get him to change his mind. It's not that important to me. He cares about what he cares about.

Bush knows about this high school power of creating a group or gang of guys. Part of it is to "rank" the other guys. Call them names, insult them. He is the insulter in chief. He does it all the time with Ph.ds who he insults by saying "I'm the C Student and I'm the president."

The Ph.ds should tell him to go Frak himself. But they don't because they are polite and they probably want him to fund something.

This wanting to be accepted by people who dis you is probably related to the need for people to be loved and respected by their fathers. If they don't get the respect they try harder and suck up more. Yet if Bush was nice to them they would suddenly think, 'What is wrong with him that he likes a loser like me." Or they will suddenly become like Bush and bash the new supplicants.

GravatarCol. Buzz Patterson sounds like a serious dipshit.

He obviously doesn't give a rat's ass about the Army, or he'd be opposing this prolonged occupation that is destroying it slowly but surely, as the Army's recruiters become so desperate that they recruit gang members of all stripes.

And Instawanker knows even less about military affairs than he does the law, which isn't much, despite his nominal "job".

GravatarWatching President Bush getting pilloried by grassroots conservatives and his Republican allies alike usually tops any progressive's list of life's simple pleasures. But as Trent Lott and Mark Kirk showed this week, seeing the Congressional GOP get its hate on when it comes to Bush's immigration initiatives has become a truly disturbing spectacle.

a book description chunk

In this explosive new book, Patterson reveals:

• How Kerry tried to veto nearly the entire military arsenal of the United States. He has even voted twelve times against military pay increases.

• How Kerry promises to abandon the War on Terror, open a dialogue with terrorists, and apologize for the “mistakes” of the Bush administration.

• How Clinton never understood that it takes twenty years for the military to develop a young soldier into a commander—and how he therefore sacrificed the future as well as destroyed the existing military systems.

• How Clinton continued the Carter legacy of devastating our military forces, spending, and morale.

Reckless Disregard is a must-read for anyone who wants to make an informed decision in our upcoming presidential race.

GravatarHey Molly.

GravatarAbout buzz

"ieutenant Colonel Robert “Buzz” Patterson, United States Air Force (Retired), is the author of two New York Times best sellers, Dereliction of Duty: The Eyewitness Account of How Bill Clinton Compromised America’s National Security and his recently completed Reckless Disregard: How Liberal Democrats Undercut Our Military, Endanger Our Soldiers, and Jeopardize Our Security, which was released in July 2004. Both books are published by Regnery Publishing, Washington, DC.

He is the host of his own radio show, 'The Buzz Cut,' heard live every Monday at 1:00 PM EST/10:00 AM PST at www.rightalk.com.

Patterson served 20 years on active duty in the military with distinction and saw tours of duty as an Air Force pilot during combat operations in Grenada, Somalia, Rwanda, Haiti, and Bosnia.

From 1996 to 1998, Colonel Patterson was the Senior Military Aide to President Bill Clinton. During that time he was responsible for the President’s Emergency Satchel, otherwise known as the “Nuclear Football," the black bag with the nation’s nuclear capability that accompanies the president at all times. In addition, Colonel Patterson was operational commander for all military units assigned to the White House, to include Air Force One, Marine One, Camp David, White House Transportation Agency and White House Mess.

Among his many military commendations, Patterson received the Defense Superior Service Medal for accomplishments while at the White House, and was awarded the Air Force Air Medal for flying fifteen combat support missions into then besieged Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. He retired in 2001 to pursue a career as a commercial airline pilot and writer.

He is a frequent guest on talk shows across the country, including television appearances on Hannity and Colmes, Fox and Friends, The Dennis Miller Show, CSPAN's Book Notes, Joe Scarborough, The John Kasich Show, Pat Robertson and MSNBC News. He’s also been heard on the radio shows of Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, G. Gordon Liddy, Bob Dornan, Bob Barr, Martha Zoller, and The Judicial Watch.

Patterson was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is a graduate of Virginia Tech University"

the Brits were run out of the Jersies in the winter of 1776 to NY Island, because, as Washington's continentals were camped across the Delaware, the New Jersey folk started the "petit war" of ambuscades.

Washington picked up on how effective it was to corral small bands of Redcoats as they foraged (stold) the countryside for provisions (stealing farmer's pigs grains horses etc.).

These ambushes became the de rigor de facto warring mode of the nascent US army..

Nancy Pelosi's not-so-subtle snubbing of General Petraeus's rank and position puts me in the mind of what I read a few years ago in Air Force Lt. Col. Robert "Buzz" Patterson's book, Dereliction of Duty, a portion of which reads:
The 'buzz' was ... Hillary had banned military uniforms in the White House. The president eventually called the uniform ban 'an abject lie,' once it became apparent that this story didn't play well politically. ... I do know the uniform issue with Mrs. Clinton was real.

Bush woulda nuked that fucker!

GravatarTrifecta, Missed Morgan on Tweetie. (I don't have cable!) and I was busy listing to her old programs anyway.
I'm building a new case about her abuse of the public air waves and the crap that here and Rodgers put on on a daily basis.

BTW, Buzz is a good friend of Morgan.

Morgan was on the air saying, "Save the Blue Angels! Keep them in the city of SF"
(so they can crash into my house? No thank you.)

And the ironic part? This year her HUSBAND the head of KSFO radio was supposed to go up in the plane with the pilot that crashed and died. But SHE was going to get the ride!

I guess that makes her either very brave or very stupid ("Miss Morgan we won't be able to put you in our plane with the pilot who was going to fly it because he crashed and killed himself, so we will give you another pilot who was on the second team who will be filling in for the dead pilot - The one who died after crashing his plane. GravatarJFC people, it's very simple. Bush and his cultists *create* reality through the sheer power of their collective wills. She didn't attend his speech to Congress, so 'she's evil'. Of course she met with Petraeus privately at length the day before as Speaker of the House but let's forget to mention that.
.

GravatarI think she'd be more like the Galloping Gourmet, getting sloshed and not really cooking much...

Holden was going to have a Galloping Gourmet program, but the Food Netwook balked at him cooking up pony burgers.

GravatarJust had to pip up.

Molly must be a little crachetty today.

I hope that wasn't a death nell.

You appear to have a Scrooge or two loose...

GravatarMAx Blumental on "buzz"

"
Who is Lieut. Col. Robert "Buzz" Patterson? A former low-level military aide to Clinton who exploited his brief White House experience to ingratiate himself with the right, Patterson wrote a book, Reckless Disregard (released in 2004 by the conservative Regnery Publishing house), that baselessly claimed that terrorists wanted Democrats to win the 2004 elections. His book became a centerpiece of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign against Senator John Kerry. Patterson's 2003 anti-Clinton polemic Dereliction of Duty (also published by Regnery), filled with errors and falsehoods, was, as Nowrasteh admitted, the sole source of ABC's attacks on Clinton's record."

I'm one of those, pretty much.

GravatarHere ya go, "Buzz"

“We’ve got this thing that so many military believe that Republican administrations are good for the military. That is rarely the case. And, we have to get a message through to every soldier, every family member, every friend of soldiers that the Republican party, the Republican dominated Congress has absolutely been the worst thing that’s happened to the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps.”
~ General Paul D. Eaton 10.March.2007

GravatarThings are looking bleak up in the hizzouse today.

Gravatarit will be our fault for not being reassuring enough to keep their, let's say resolve, firm.

Sorry, I'm not their fluffer.

They need to go behind the tastee freeze with fiddy cents for that.

GravatarLTC Lightyear is my definition of a traitor, in that he gives aid and comfort to domestic enemies of the Constitution, who are found in bushels on the right nowadays, to include the giant defibulated sack of shit called Cheney.

If Colonel Lightyear still adhered to his oath of office, he'd be demanding the heads of Bush and Cheney right now.

GravatarTerry C. They don't read books, they collect them and talk about them based on what they are told they contain.

The books are bought by the case by the think tanks and given out as "gifts" are they are sent to the human book recycling ward, military hospitals"

They are then used as door stops or emergency toilet paper for incontinent soldiers. "I would have shit my sheet had it not been for Regnery Publishing, books! Thanks Regnery!" - Corporal Art Foonman, 2nd Infantry at Walter Reed recovering from two missing legs".

GravatarAhem.

Spoiled sheets.

Gravatarsteve, I love the Fabulous Poodles!

GravatarThe SIX month thing is really getting old.

GravatarMy wife's last name has six consonants to one vowel and she's not entirely insane! rorschach

I'm sure she's much better adjusted than he - wait, how long has she been with you?

GravatarMental illness is a joke -Thomas Szasz

That's not exactly his argument.

Ah, the private one-on-one before the speech doesn't count.

Gotcha.

Years, dear.

Moe Szyslak

I admire your willingness to stick up for your fellow vowel-challenged.

GravatarEven if we had all been good little goose-stepping fascism-loving Bush sycophants the war would still have been lost because Bush and his neocon cronies are both insane and incompetent.

GravatarUm, what exactly did Pelosi do that was a "snub" of GEN Petraeus?

iirc, she went to a funeral

GravatarYears, dear. rorschach

Well, adjusted, accomodated to, as long as you're happy!

Gravatar"My wife's last name has six consonants to one vowel and she's not entirely insane!"

You married Joe Btfsplk?
How do you stand all the storm clouds?

Gravatar“Buzz” Patterson = Batshit insane.

Gravatar"Watching President Bush getting pilloried by grassroots conservatives and his Republican allies alike usually tops any progressive's list of life's simple pleasures. But as Trent Lott and Mark Kirk showed this week, seeing the Congressional GOP get its hate on when it comes to Bush's immigration initiatives has become a truly disturbing spectacle."

The immigration bill is there to rally the reactionary/nationalist/paranoid base and to tie us to Bush while the gop gets to fight him. The last thing we need is a bill already referred to as the Kennedy/Bush bill.

GravatarRemeber Jonah's "FDR was never shown in a wheelchair comment?" two threads ago?

How about this. "The press never show Bush at military funerals. He must go to them all the time but they don't show those photos because it would undermine the war effort."

What?

He DOESN'T go to funerals? Why the FRAK not?

Because there are so many that he couldn't get any work done.

Oh.. I see.
Well in that case. I guess it is okay.

GravatarNot to get into it, but from Szasz's manifesto:

1. "Myth of mental illness." Mental illness is a metaphor (metaphorical disease). The word "disease" denotes a demonstrable biological process that affects the bodies of living organisms (plants, animals, and humans). The term "mental illness" refers to the undesirable thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of persons. [snip]

As far as I'm concerned, he's off base on his very first point. Current neuroscience absolutely supports the disease model for brain disorders, and 'mental illness' does not simply refer to undesirable etc but rather to demonstrable and reproducible dysfunction in physical brain mechanisms.

Bless you for that post. Now I don't have to watch it. I was dreading it.

Very funny stuff you wrote too!

I'm rarely funny on my blog. It's hard work!

Gravatar"Surely you’re not calling Democrats traitors. Or are you?

“Buzz” Patterson: I am. They certainly are if their behavior during our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is held up to the light of the U.S. Constitution."

Only wingers would consider people's practicing their right to free speech and dissent unconstitutional.

GravatarThe divorce rate is skyrocketing.

But that's because of all the gays getting married in Mass...
NTodd, Boring MEQUA

People are getting divorced so they can marry a gay guy.

GravatarPatterson's theme is one that we'll hear more in the future, especially if things go badly in Iraq.

What does he mean "if"?

I guess Glenn Reynolds hasn't been paying attention.

GravatarI think we have to change the framing of this stuff; they aren't "the pro-war crowd" they are "anti-peace activists."
