Last time I went through WY was April of last year, and it was an unmitigated nightmare. Got stuck in a blizzard while low on gas, and all the gas stations etc were closed or out of business, despite what the freeway signs said.

I'll believe it when I see it. The chances that the legacy media is going to report anything that seriously jeopardizes the McCain campaign is absofuckinglutely zero. The possibility of increased cap gains taxes and the revisiting of even modest media regulation scares the major shareholders, executives and talent of the networks far more than Osama or Saddam ever did.

The one thing I do know about Palin's last school was that she was a journalism major, but she did not participate in the school paper, or school tv station when she attended there.
She did get on tv as a sports reporter in Anchorage though when she got back. I am assuming they checked her transcripts. Shit, maybe they didn't. Six schools in six years isn't impressive even in Anchorage.

I've always had a thing for the high desert, the high prairie... the desolate landscapes with no trees that goes on forever, the big sky, the wind that doesn't stop anywhere, goes on and on and on... I dunno, it speaks to me somehow, the emptyness, reflective of the human condition in a way.
People either love the desert or they hate it. Some people can figure out how to live in the desert, but most people would go crazy if they lived there... I count myself in the latter category. It's a great place to visit, to momentarily deal with personal and societal demons, to reflect, then to get the hell out.

Michael C. at the SS (homeland security) says they've gotten "reports of a few deaths" from Ike. Refuses to mobilize anything, refuses to talk about the mounting deathtoll.
Of course, he is right abuot one thing. You can't do a whole hell of a lot for the numbnuts who decide that they're tougher than a hurricane, because they live in Texas, dammit.

Moonlit nights....when those came on a Sat nite Charlie would always have some fun with us interrupt our drinking with some rockets. First time damn near scared the shit out of me but after a while it was like 4th of July.
But now I just enjoy them for what they are...reminders that we on earth are just a small part of an entire universe and really not that much important in the larger scheme of things.
Well back to my drinking and just enjoying life.
