I've been looking at OSHA standards for chemical exposure. The first thing I'm going to look for is a publicly posted MSDS sheet for the chemicals I know to be floating around. (you can smell them). I don't think they have been posted. That's the first violation. The second one is inadequate engineering controls of exposure, as recommended by the MSDS sheets. That is violation #2.
I think Monday will be a fun day for me.

Mr. Giuliani took a fateful step that would for years prompt questions about his racial sensitivities. In September 1992, he spoke to a rally of police officers protesting Mr. Dinkins’s proposal for a civilian board to review police misconduct.
It was a rowdy, often threatening, crowd. Hundreds of white off-duty officers drank heavily, and a few waved signs like “Dump the Washroom Attendant,” a reference to Mr. Dinkins. A block away from City Hall, Mr. Giuliani gave a fiery address, twice calling Mr. Dinkins’s proposal “bullshit.” The crowd cheered. Mr. Giuliani was jubilant...
Mitt's will have racing stripes by the Nov election.

I don't particularly have an opinion about whether Mormonism is cult-like or whether Jesus Christ would endorse the Mittster...
Fer chrissake, what other religion lets you be a near pedophile and get away with it. The true Mormons let their 50+ year old ture believers and elders choose girls as young as 15 to be their brides. Yes, brides. You can have as many as you want. And the girl don't get to say much about it.
You have to wear those funny under-garments, even when you're banging away on one of your wives, but i guess it's worth it. At least if you're not one of the mud people. An elder had a vision and god told him blackss were made of mud, that's why their black. And stinky. And why it's ok to treat 'em like dirt, cause that's what they are.
So Mitt is right. We need a true believer in the White House. No fakers like GWB. Someone who believes and obeys the word of god, before and above anything else, and no matter what the hell it tells him to do.
Praise the Mormon Jeebus.

Ney Aide Wore Wire to Nail His Boss http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/arch...ives/
003905.php
Another wrinkle in the story of ex-Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH), who's currently a guest of the Bureau of Prisons in rustic West Virginia. Ney, of course, pleaded guilty last year to accepting bribes from Jack Abramoff.
It turns out that investigators built their case with the help of Ney's very young chief of staff, Will Heaton, who recorded phone conversations with Ney, even wearing a wire during a 2 1/2-hour meeting. The revelation came in a court filing earlier this week. Heaton, who's pleaded guilty to corruption charges, will be sentenced next month, and prosecutors are arguing for a lenient sentence for the staffer, given the help he was in bringing down his boss.

I am not wrong, my friend. The church did reluctantly and in its official text give up polygamy...but only after the federal government threatened to pretty much banish the religion and lock up its elders.
The reality is that polygamy is still practiced, and it is practiced by some members of the official, mainstream church. There are polygamist communities right in Salt Lake City. And you are right that a bunch of true believers who allowed marriages of elders to 15 year old girls in a small town in southern were not allowed in the main church, the respectable one that owns most of the state adn all of the politicians, but they were not doing anything that was inconsistent with the true teachings and origins of the church.
The only reason polygamy is banned within the church is because the federal government demaded it if Utah was to become a state. Moreover, a church elder was told by god that balcks came from mud. ANd it became the word of the church...until so it became so damaging to the church and its economic interests that they dumped it. Can you imagine, erasing the word of god like that!

Last year, Love Demonstrated Ministries reported private and government contributions totaling $314,673 to operate the boot camp, with nearly 89 percent of the costs, $278,549, going for salaries.
Associate pastors at the Faith Outreach Center couldn't be reached for comment Friday.
Patrick Crimmins, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, said it "appeared that this operation is probably exempt from our regulation."
He said for a camp to be licensed, it needed to operate longer than 11 weeks.
The camp in Nueces County only lasts 32 days.
32 days of pure, unregulated hell for these poor kids. Do anything you want to my kids. Just bring them home to jesus.

After the collapse of Interstate 35W, the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., dashed off a pair of news releases announcing members of its congregation would come to the Twin Cities to protest at the memorial services of some of the victims. For the past 17 years members of the church -- most, if not all, of its current 70 members are relatives of the Rev. Fred Phelps -- have picketed funerals of gay men who died from HIV/AIDS and, more recently, soldiers killed in Iraq. The sin they see in those who perished when 35W fell? Living in the "land of the Sodomite damned," an area that tolerates homosexuality -- and where the Phelps clan was met with resistance on their last visit.

db - if you're discovered to be practicing polygamy, you will be given the left foot of fellowship and excommunicated post haste. I knew people in Salt Lake City who went that route. Got turned on to polygamy, got baptized into the United Apostolic Brethren, took wife #2, got excommunicated from the LDS Church, and then, much later, set themselves up as their own prophets, seers and revelators.
The mainstream Mormon church absolutely does not countenance polygamy in this lifetime. In fact, children of polygamists who want to become members of the mainstream church practically have to renounce their parents to do so--which is highly ironic given the "families are forever" image that the LDS Church likes to promote.
As for the afterlife, that's another story altogether.
And, as for the Protestant groups who have decided that Mormons are just not doctrinally correct to join their nice little exclusive club, a pox on them. It reminds me of the Lutheran pastor who, out of the blue one day, said to me, "I don't know how someone as smart as you could be a member of the Mormon church." I may be a Jack Mormon, but to blunt, I know a hell of a lot more about the fine (and not so fine) differences between the different Protestant churches and sects , how they came about and so on, and then to tell me that Mormons are weird and unchristian! I don't think so! In the larger scope of things, it really doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Which is why I don't go to ANY church anymore.
(sorry for the rant, folks, this stuff really infuriates me)

Prior, he is a man of great dignity. And a marvelous sense of humor as well.
Now that's the sort of faith I can get behind. John Edwards isn't inclined to talk about his faith, but anyone that cares about poverty and social justice the way he does, coupled with the sort of upbringing he had, should indicate that he walks the walk.

That is, running as "men of faith" to lead what many of its own members call "God's Own Party," Giuliani and Romney are being called on it. And while Rudy's Catholicism and Mitt's Mormonism are now rightly drawing the attention each invited, the second tier Republican candidates are waging a holy war on each other.

it was late in july at the quecreek coal mine when the water came rolling down
as black as bad blood to where nine good men stood shuddering, shivering, shouting for deliverance sure they would drown
and safe above ground, the boss paced around surveying the scene of the flood
after chasing away the UMWA so inspections were cheap- still he didn’t lose sleep
he just stood in the sun- "what could we have done?" he said, "this was an act of god"
and the president came from his party campaign to shake every hero’s right hand
after slashing the funds for the miners’ black lungs and the regulations- "god bless our nation," he said, "united we stand"
and the anchorgirl cried when the miners survived she lauded her god in his glory
and the tired cameraman packed up the van and they wore the same frown as they drove out of town where they found the next sellable story
and we who were raised by invisible hands and we who were raised on government lies we prodigal children of the promiseland
who’s gonna open our eyes?

Pastor accused of dragging girl behind his van
A trainer also faces charges in incident at boot camp
By JEORGE ZARAZUA
San Antonio Express-news
A San Antonio pastor and an employee of his Christian boot camp were arrested Friday on aggravated assault charges, accused of dragging a girl behind a van after she failed to keep up during a running exercise. ...
Flowers, a retired U.S. Air Force instructor, holds the title of commandant of the boot camp he has operated with his wife, Janice, since the mid-1990s, states the camp's Web site.
The camp was created to "reinstill the values that have been lost in our society for a couple of generations, values such as discipline, morality, unity and integrity."

Last year, Love Demonstrated Ministries reported private and government contributions totaling $314,673 to operate the boot camp, with nearly 89 percent of the costs, $278,549, going for salaries.

If you get a chance, catch this week's This American Life. There is a fascinating story about conspiracy theorists who attack this woman who was in the 7/7 bombings in London. She started a support group and made the mistake of publicly disagreeing with the conspiracy theorists who believe it was all a government plot and engaging with them when she found they were attacking and misquoting her on their websites. She thought if they simply heard from someone who was there, they would stop saying horrible things. She was wrong.
Listening to these guys is like every exchange you've ever seen with a troll or conspiracy theorist here. The hallmark (as the woman notes) is a complete and utter lack of empathy and a dehumanizing of everyone who suggests they're full of shit. The reporter himself becomes the subject of an attack site.

Well you are right. I realized after writing that that I was not thinking clearly. I was supposing a district by district vote would echo the current congressional district votes. By no means is it a fair popular vote.

You may as well ask why doesn't anyone who does look like him run for office espousing the same views as Kucinich?
Don't touch that subject! That is forbidden fruit.

The story is that the "California Electoral Vote Reform" is not going to pass, but it is going to cost the Dems a lot of money to stop it (& it looks bad, right?)
Gotta run -- be good bats!

How could a measure to award California's electoral votes poportionally ever pass in this state? I have heard nothing of a petition for a referendum, and the state legislature is still totally dominated by Democrats. Aaahnuld can't just make that happen by his own will.

You're a fucking moron.
Having said that, I don't believe traumatized victims of false flag operations like the one staged in the tunnels of london should be victimized a second time by anyone. It's too late for you, though. PNAC is now a known quantity. The cat is out of the bag, and most Americans who pay attention now know who actually perpetrated the attacks of 9/11, and it wasn't some guy in a cave.

Dayum, Duane, can't you just express disagreement without being a dick about it?
V for Virginia
He a friend of yours Virginia? The answer to your question is yes. But not when he paints everyone who doesn't accept the Bush Administrations' line of bullshit as the manna from heaven he seems to think it is. Bush's government did have more than a little bit to do with 9/11. Now, why don't you and your friends smear everyone who doesn't think the Bushies told the truth about 9/11. Bush, Lie? Impossible.

(sorry for the rant, folks, this stuff really infuriates me)
What, the history of the Mormon church, or how it markets itself today? It's fundamental beliefs are the same even if it did bickle under religious oppression from the US govt.
It's a huge corporate entity worth gazillions, btw.

What the acceptance of the Mormon story tells us is that it is no more goofy than the story mainstream Christians peddle.
Both are equally goofy.

Hey, at least he didn't claim I was a group entity created by the government to spread disinformation - that's what they said about this woman, even after meeting her. Anyone who disagreed in any way became part of the conspiracy and angrily denounced. Always angrily.

Yeah, why be angry about elements of your own government killing innocent citizens to further its political and strategic goals?

I have opinions about both. LDS is a cult that should be suppressed. And nobody who really believes in any god at all should be allowed to hold any political office.
All of religion is a sickness of the mind.
