Step 1: Unhook health insurance from employment.
-Whether you're working 20 hours or 60, you should have coverage.
-People should be able to change jobs without worrying about losing benefits.
-Cut out all the middle-men (company benefits staff and health insurance deciderers) who add to cost but add nothing to/detract from quality of care. A small staff of insurance specialists at every doctor's office should suffice.
-Create an optimally-sized pool of payers. Eliminate the need to even discuss exemptions to small and mid business owners, let them concentrate on running their businesses. Eliminate the inevitable disproportionate carryover to larger businesses, which take costs out of employee salary.
In sum, get rid of two layers of middle men and a whole host of other economic stagnators by unhooking health care from employment.

my son just moved home. going back to school and working part time. spouse and I have both gotten the Thanksgiving day upper respiratory infection. Son so far is well. Spouse has medicare, I have private insurance but son is uninsured. I told him today that if he gets sick I'm taking him to the Dr. and fuck the expense. Nothing more important than your health. I am still paying for the appendectomy I had four years ago. Paid off the doctors, one remains and $25.00 per mo. to the hospital. I should be 90 years old when that is done.
