I'm reposting this bcz I was so amazed I'd missed just which years Obama said the ReThugs had the better ideas. No wonder Bill Clinton is kinda pissed about that. Those Newt ideas were so great? Those Unitary Executive ideas were so great during the part of the past 10 years under Dear Leader? Killing health care to try to keep the ReThugs in power (Bill Kristol)? Fighting environmentalism? Ignoring alternative energy? Soooooo cooooooool.
I just did the math on Obama saying the ReThugs had the better ideas over the last 10-15 years...
which means beginning 1993--Clinton's first year as president--or 1998--when the ReThugs' big idea was to impeach Bill Clinton.
And St. Ronnie's ideas were 20-30 years ago.
Obama might want to do that math again.
I had not realized, struck as I was by his accepting Reagan's ideas that the country was sick of all those things from the 60's and 70's, that his numbers actually aimed directly at Bill Clinton's presidency.

The best way to deal with bacon drippings is to put about 1 inch of water in a glass and pour the heated grease in. The bits that can spoil will sink into the water and after refrigeration you can take the clean drippings off the top for use later.
About the stimulus package, I got kind of uncomfortable about it when Rangel was talking about it on Charlie Rose last night. Got the feeling the Dems felt getting BushBoy on board was more important than some other factors, such as getting most of the money to poorest, worst hit citizens.

you can read the Obama quote how you want, I guess.
I read it as him saying the goopers had the ideas and the dems had none.
What are the hallmarks for the past 15 years of gooper ideas:
shut the govt
impeach clinton
put asshats on the supreme court
cut taxes predominantly for the rich
gut the environment
privatize social security
medicare Rx giveaway to drug companies
medicare advantage giveaway to insurance corp.
depopulate new orleans and LA
privatize the war effort
pre-emptive war
torture
this is obama's party of ideas.
fuck off.

A Release out from the McCain campaign South Carolina State Director Buzz Jacobs ...
"We have received reports from Horry County that voters are being turned away from the polls, because electronic voting machines are not working and paper ballots are not available. Some voters say they are being instructed to return at a later time. We are disturbed by these reports and hope that this issue is resolved immediately. We encourage any voters who were turned away from the polls to return again to their polling place this afternoon to exercise their constitutional right to vote."

Well if people change the words, I think it's kind of hard to get the meaning. Inserting "better", for example, is basically lying.
“It’s hard to take Hillary Clinton’s latest attack seriously when she’s the one who supported George Bush’s war in Iraq, the most damaging Republican idea of our generation. While others were triangulating and poll-testing their positions, Senator Obama has been fighting for progressive ideals for over two decades."

yup, his idea of flattening the with-holding returns struck me as tone deaf to working stiff reality.
He couldn't know how many people count it as savings and use it towards purchase of the big ticket items like new appliances or an auto downpayment.
He also started to super-tax restaurant wages and tips and he started to tax the free classes offered to university employees.

Little late for John to start worrying about crappy voting machines. What's he done about it in the Senate for the last 7 years? Fuck-all, that's what.
Committee Chairman John McCain, the Arizona Republican who mounted a spirited campaign against Bush in last year's early primary season -- and who is the Senate's champion of campaign finance reform -- said "large segments of the population were systematically shut out of the electoral process" in the last election.
If the problems experienced in 2000 are not corrected, McCain warned, rates or voter turnout may continue to drop, and younger voters will not have any confidence in system that they are already highly suspicious of.
And then did nothing.
