HOmoA - I don't have HBO but was working out of town and staying in a hotel that did. I saw a few Wire episodes. I found it depressing - particularly the one where the drug dealer takes one of her guys on a drive, presumably to set him up or get him killed or something, but he outsmarts her and shoots her in the head in an alley.

i can recommend a show on animal planet called "Chimp Eden." A South African guy is part of a group of folks who have set up a place for chimps and the guy goes around Africa rescuing abused chimps and taking them to the Eden place. There has been nobody campaigning against McCain seriously for like nine weeks now, and not one negative story about him. Still, he is either even or trailing slightly in pretty much all of the major opinion polls, none of which use a valid likely voter model based on the tsunami-high Democratic primary turnout.
This is his high-water mark right here. If he's not showing a statistically significant lead now, he is toast.

How does one become a Democrat in South Carolina? We have no party registration for voting and the Democratic Party does not require dues. Our primaries are open so voting patterns does not necessarily indicate party affiliation. All you have to do is pay a fee to file for the primary. So if you're a Republican convinced a Democrat is going to win and there is only one announced candidate whom no one has ever heard of, why not take a shot at it.
A Republican is also running as an Independent and this guy thinks that will split the Republican vote ensuring a Democrat will win. Your primary opponent is as unknown as you so you got a 50-50 shot and you can get your Republican friends to vote so maybe they throw it your way. It is a very good, logical plan, in my opinion.
Only it overlooks something major.

I lived in Sunnyvale, CA eight years ago and they sent a threatening letter about a garbage bill just this month. For all I know I paid it I don't have checks from fucking 8 years ago. The fucking IRS only requires records from 7 years ago. I told them (without swear words) that it is a little fucking late to come looking for money. They wouldn't listen.
The company I work for has an awesome legal plan that I pay $70 a year for. I called them and the California lawyer was on the motherfucker like "The Wolf" in Pulp Fiction. He wrote the assholes a letter telling the motherfuckers how they were past the goddamned statute of limitations (not his exact words I think) and the goat fuckers have left me alone since then.
