Those two barcodes will have your letters flying through the scanners all but untouched by human hands until the letter carrier delivers it.
It is well worth the modest US$13.00 shareware fee.

So I ran some tests.
ZIP+4 and Postnet barcoded envelopes arrived in California at least a day sooner than did non-barcoded envelopes.
Same address, same sans-serif typeface, all labels printed by my 24 pin printer in letter quality mode, all labels in the same spot on the envelope to within a millimeter.

I was trying to point out that machines were not necessarily better than human hands.
I worked at the PO during the period of time when machines replaced humans.
It didn't hurt my job as I was a part time person (working 50 hrs a week) but I watched as many excellent and accurate clerks were replaced by machines that jam constantly and were finicky when it came to font, color, size,........everything.
