Adding to the problems in the state of Florida (and I'm sure the same is going to be true in other states that have had big spec bubbles in RE), the state is trying to reform property taxes at a time when property tax revenues are going down, due to the deflation of said bubble.
Additionally, in some areas where growth was really fast for several years, local officials made projections for projects based on those accelerated growth numbers. Now that growth has slowed to more normal numbers, we've got schools with no students in some areas, because the population grown didn't keep up the way people expected it to.

I should add that this isn't all that uncommon among vegans...I've known several who are troubled by certain things about abortion. Most people grow out of it, and I don't believe any of 'em would've voted against choice. But then, Kucinich had the Catholicism thing going on as well.

When they decided to expand the route signage here in Oregon, Oregon route 69 was deliberately renumberd 569 to avoid sign stealing.

U.S. legal abortions per year peaked in 1978-82, and the number has declined continuously except for a blip up during 2002-04 iirc.
I can't remember where, but in the past year someone did an article about a survey: fully 50% of "pro-life activists" had either had an abortion, or a family member who had one, during the time they were "pro life."

It'd make more sense for them to work for sex education and making contraception easier and cheaper, but they couldn't act holier than thou that way.
