SteveLG, was it you who said they were going to a Nationals game last night? If so, how was the new park?
Gromit
The stadium is wonderful. Got there early enough to walk all over, and there are great views of the Capital, the Washington Monument, planes landing at National Airport, the Anacostia waterfront... you can see the Masonic Temple in Alexandria and the National Cathedral.
The sight lines are great, the atmosphere is open and spacious.
The Nats got the tying run to second and the winning run to first with one out, but as my baseball-crazy pal predicted, as soon as LoDuca got two strikes on him he just laid the bat on the ball, swinging defensively, and hit into the easiest double play ever. Fun game, though.
Whoa! Capitals open the third period by pulling back within one!

I have a personal story that may help you folks understand how this Obama thing can hurt the average person. Many years ago Bill Bradley was giving a speech in the Senate and he used the phrase, 'Pell Grants for the poor.' At the time I was in school and a beneficiary of Pell Grants but I never thought of myself as poor or as Pell grants being exclusively for the poor. It was quite a sting and I've never forgotten it nor forgiven Bradley.
Anyone identifying with small town America will feel like they've just been knifed by Obama.

Three new surveys released today document the steep descent of President Bush, and with him, the American economy. While Bush's approval rating reached a new low of 28% in the AP poll, three quarters of economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal believe that the United States is in a recession that has yet to hit bottom. So it comes as no surprise that American consumer confidence spiraled down to its lowest level in 26 years.

And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." - Obama

Well, it has to do with risk management. Given the low rate, even if it was caused by ingestion the chancs are against you getting it. There seems to be a genetic susceptability involved.

Snow expected tomorrow and Sunday. No kidding.
Then, next week, 46 Mon, 56 Tue, 65 Wed, and it will jump to 80 by next weekend, and stay there or above. That's Spring in Chicago. The temperature from mid-October to May looks like a step function, horizontal at 25 from 15 Oct to 15 March, slow increase to 40 over the next month, and then around tax day a steep rise to 85+, where it stays for the next four to five months.

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms.
The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."

Here's the thing.
1) No case of kuru could be caused in labratory primates (chimps) without direct injection of affected brain tissue.
2) There is no *evidence* that the Fore ever practiced cannibalism, never mind practicing it during that time frame.
3) There is evidence (on film, in fact) that the Fore would have been subjected to accidental innoculation during funerary rites (bone breaking rituals).
Those are the main points.
yeah, I had read a lot of stuff that seemed well researched that linked cannibalism to kuru, but even Dr Gajdusek had accidental innoculation, not cannibalism, at the top of his list in the early reports.

Everything in the Obama universe, including gun rights evidently, that doesn’t fit his agenda is a byproduct of external forces conspiring to manipulate the masses to keep his agenda at bay. Exit question: How does Hillary leverage this? Does she dare get the video and stick it in an ad?

I may have to spend some time on PubMed and other databases when I get time. Which may not be anytime soon "I need 5 articles on pathophysiology and diabetes and i need them in 1/2 hour, my paper is due in 3 hours."
sigh.

Not a lot on PubMed, due to the age of the work... the objections really started with the anthopologists pointing out the unlikelyhood of cannibalism actually occuring amongst the Fore.
