I learned today that the little town of Bristol, VT has a trash pick up service that uses a horse drawn wagon in the downtown neighborhoods, and deposits the trash in a centrally located truck for the run to the landfill.
Keeps the neighborhoods quiet, and the truck doesn't have to run all day.
