Seriously four dollars why couldn't the employee just pay the four dollars ? I mean was it really that bad. At jesters we pay it at the end of the week although we don't tell the boss but we think she knows and she doesn't care because she trusts us, even if she is a tyrant about other stuff. I am so glad that in 6 months I can quit and do something with my degree. Nasty food service industry that i am trapped in !!!!!!

First, I must stress that this was local to that specific Subway and not a corporate action.
Second, we should kill the Subway manager at that store. With fire.

This has been going on for weeks already - Subway (the corporation) has had plenty of time to deal with it, but have chosen not to. If you read the franchise handbook you can lose your business for this kind of behaviour. Why has the franchise owner not yet been fired?

Can I also point out that the cost of post-mix soft-drinks is well under the retail cost. Ie, actual cost of goods for two drinks would be in the 20-30c range.

That's okay - the police have a discretion not to prosecute minor offences so everything will be fine... what's that? They charged anyway... oh well.

By the way, the number for Subway Dunedin is 03 477 5781. The manager's name is Rob, and he's currently manning the phone. Best of all, you can hear the protest in the background when you ring up.
