Don't know I'd give much credit to the DNC for choosing Qwest; the convention's in Denver and Qwest is the incumbent Baby Bell there.
According to the [implicitly false, remember] storyline that drives many advocacy groups and Democratic activists - a storyline often reflected in comments on this blog - we are up against a sharply partisan, radically conservative, take-no-prisoners Republican party.

Earlier tonight, I was out with some friends who are not conversant with the blogospheric consensus. A friend of mine, who is otherwise smart as a whip and one of the people in the real world whom I most respect, asked me for confirmation of the Iowa caucus date. Instead, I belched out everything I know about the primary candidates, the vast number of potential candidates among women and afro-american polititians not running, etc., etc., etc. I wasn't really trying to change her mind about anything, but when you talk to smart people outside the blogosphere, it's like you have to go back in time 5 - 7 years in order to find common ground. Anyway, long story short, I favor Dodd, but I found out that people who have been relying on the mainstream media have never heard of Dodd.
sure, they deserve credit for choosing Qwest, but sealing the deal means prohibiting retroactive immunity AND refusing to extend the "six month law" from the past summer allowing the executive branch to seek out those records without a warrant.
I don' t want to be grumpy in the new year, but I'm having a hard time giving the dem leadership much credit for anything of late. Maybe if Reid and Pelosi were removed from their leadership positions. But that's the ghost of democrats past talking.
But Lambert - I can see where Obama is coming from.
One must remember - in 2004 Obama ran against Alan Keyes.
