If I could donate blood, I so would.

Sorry things have taken a bad turn, hopefully you'll bounce back from it though as you have in the past.
Will keep my fingers crossed for you on that Turkey! I'm already looking forward to x-mas so I can get a taste, haven't had a bite of Turkey since LAST x-mas!
Anyway enough about me! Big hugs and well wishes going out to you both

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Gail. I sure hope you get to make your turkey. (What in the world is a maple-brine turkey, anyway?) There are so many things I am thankful for this holiday; believe it or not, one of those things is the gift you (both) have given to me through your faithful blogging. I haven't taken the time to write or journal in many years, and now I've started my own blog, lame as it might be to record my life events. It's been a great experience. So I'm very glad to have stumbled upon your blog while I was researching Mercy Hospitals! I will pray for better blood counts and continued good appetite and energy so you can enjoy the upcoming holidays with Gail. Hang in there.

Well, Hugh has a sensitive stomach, so he doesn't get much people food. But he loves turkey, the vet says he can have some - and there will definitely be leftovers!

Hey, guys--happy Thanksgiving, either in advance or belatedly, depending on when it is/was. (Not too up on my American holidays, I'm afraid.) Here is a list of foods my mother said one should eat in order to build up strength: walnuts, hazelnuts, oranges, soy milk, chicken breasts, avocados, tuna fish, salmon, whole wheat crackers, mackerel, herring, eggs...man, who listens to my mother? I never eat any of that stuff, except the avocados and chicken. Then again, look at the state of me. Ha, ha. Well, you might try it, anyway. Oh, and bananas. Almost forgot the bananas. There was some other stuff on her list, too, but I only pretended to write it down, because I was ignoring her at the time. Shame on me.
Don't forget to get lots of sleep!

Happy Thanksgiving from Maine as well!
I agree about the fine balance between quantity and quality of life. It sounds like your physicians have been threading that needle very expertly from where I'm sitting: backing off when things start to spin out of control and putting the heat to it when it's needed. Great physicians, IMO. And many thanks for keeping us all posted on the progress.

Have you tried any holistic medicine stuff? I have gotten great results with acupuncture. The "needles" don't hurt - they are actually tiny microfibers. They can do it for anything - I'm sure they could do it to combat nausea, help your digestive tract out.
