Gravatar Gospel music will save the world Babba.

http://www.christianpost.com/ art...rammy_Event.htm

Gospel legends Edwin and Walter Hawkins, Sandi Patty, and The Winans were honored for their contributions to Gospel music Wednesday night during an event paying tribute to the soulful genre.

During the Grammy Salute to Gospel Music event at the historic Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC., the music artists were recipients of the President's Merit Award from The Recording Academy, the organization that hands out the music industry's annual Grammy awards.

The Hawkins brothers are best known for their Gospel rendition of the classic hymn "Oh Happy Day." The song became an international hit in the late 60s and remained popular since.

Patty, also known as "The Voice," has won five Grammy awards and is a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

The Winans are a group of Contemporary Christian music artists formed by four brothers from the notable Winans family. Their siblings include renowned Gospel artists BeBe and CeCe Winans.

Gravatar Babba -

So I won't buy that fur coat this week. It's getting hot here anyway.

Gravatar Curtis Mayfield - nice.

Gravatar Here is an important quote:

"No one can live without delight, and that is why a man deprived of spiritual joy goes over to carnal pleasures."

-- St Thomas Aquinas

/that explains a lot

Gravatar LOLOLOL

I'm channeling James from beyond the back of beyond....

ZABBA DABBA ZING DO!

LOL

Gravatar Good one Yank

Gravatar Yank- I gots to have both. Walk in balance.

Gravatar Hello Yank my friend!

Yes. There is a void that demands to be filled. Lots of people go down the the junk food aisle when they should be looking at the steaks.

Gravatar Balance is good.

Appreciating life is good.

Gravatar BZ: I love aphorisms and short commentaries.

These are very readable, even when one is tired and not into reading hard.

For example: Dennis Prager's "Think A Second Time"

People with some important messages should consider just putting all these things into short parts in a small book.

Gravatar Yank

How do I take 60K's worth of that kinda stuff off a hostile website?

LOL

Gravatar I LOVE THREE DOG NIGHT !

yeah baby

Gravatar Speaking of 3 dog night

Q do you remember the "rumor" about him

ROTFF

Gravatar Yank - Before Little Winger went over to Iraq the first time, he got a little notebook and wrote down a bunch of quotations and short thoughts that were meaningful to him. He labeled it:

Important Stuff

and took it with him. He had a lot of stuff in there.

Gravatar Q: yes, it's the idea that the spiritual domain can actually be a delight that is not always easy to keep in mind. One becomes overwhelmed with work, for example, and the last thing that seems delightful is spiritual matters. Then maybe guilt or regrets enter in concerning the moral law and missed obligations -- these too can make the aspect of joy in religion obscure.

Gravatar Babba- I think you should go public with the gmail gulag thing. How many of us have tried everything to de-spam you without success? It is threadworthy.

Gravatar Q burn - I would agree with you if I knew what the heck you were talking about.

Gravatar Yank -

I find that I need to make a conscious effort to sit and think and be still.

Gravatar Mama- just let me call on my powers of mass delusion and you will understand everything..

(gestures hypnotically)

Gravatar What is gmail gulag?

Gravatar Q

I seriously dont know WTF I am talking about so I cant make a thread yet

I dont understand all this hoople twanky

I have to RESEARCH before I can complain coherently and attack the right artery and I have not had the time

Gravatar Babba what rumor? The only thing I remember is that it takes three dogs to keep an aborigine warm on a really cold night...

Gravatar Oo Rasputin!

Gravatar Oh Lawd lol Q
it is not fit for public consumption

tell ya later

Gravatar Babba - are you doing all this art work yourself?

Gravatar Mama- those of us with gmail accounts have suddenly had all of Babbas e-mails condemned to the spam file. I've selected her as a contact, marked her as "not spam" repeatedly, nothing works. Started about June 10.

Gravatar For instance - on the right side bar there is a picture that says Fight the Army of Darkness. Did you make that?

Gravatar Babba....good news:

As of this morning, your e-mails from here have been being delivered to my inbox, rather than spam..... That "not phishing" button did work!

Gravatar Ohhhh - I have dellmail dot com. No problems here.

Gravatar That Obama Poster is mine from the auto obamagandatron

The only artwork of my own that I actually did myself that I have posted here are 2 computer paintings I did about 5 years ago

haha

Gravatar Hi Mama: nice to see you, there.

We can't expect to deny our natural tendencies and life-drives, but we may be able to glimpse higher and different kinds of joys that open up a new, spiritual world.

It seems, when practical circumstances involve constant hard work and struggle, difficult to try to hammer one's way through on certain areas like faith, love, and happiness. Delight, for example, somehow comes upon us and grips us. There's a passive element in this. But being open and mindful to the idea of spiritual joy can certainly make such happiness possible.

Gravatar Amen, Yank.

Gravatar "being open and mindful to the idea of spiritual joy can certainly make such happiness possible."

An attitude of gratitude.

Happiness is a decision.

These and many other cliches are my words to live by - haha

Gravatar BZ:

"How do I take 60K's worth of that kinda stuff off a hostile website?"

What is important will come back to you, for sure, especially when you get moving on that book

Gravatar In everything, give thanks.

Gravatar That's the one I was biting my tongue not to spout, mama.

Gravatar Haha ! I spouted it for you! lol

Gravatar Yank- true dat.

Mama- there's a reason cliches became cliches.

Gravatar Q burn

Don't cry over spilt milk

It's always darkest before the dawn

I could go on and on, but I might make myself sick.

Gravatar And anyway, none of 'em work without "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding...."

Gravatar And my personal favorite:

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the're not after you!

Gravatar MW:

"I find that I need to make a conscious effort to sit and think and be still."

I end up doing that daily, but never as a conscious effort, which works for me. If I make into a daily assignment, I seem to quickly decide: "Oh man, not another task."

Gravatar Yank....I have found that the beginning is work, but it grows on ya, like a habit....and He honors that, and it becomes almost second nature, like a habit does....

Gravatar Yank - I do my best thinking in the shower. I come up with great and noble thoughts while washing my hair. I compose sonnets as I shave my legs. I interpret escatological passages while lathering my feet.

Then as soon as I towel off - Pffffft!

all my big thoughts - down the drain.

Gravatar A LOT of time I go to bed before I am tired, just so I can lay there and think in the dark.

Gravatar Y'know, mama....you COULD decide to just live in the shower, full time.....

/

Gravatar I'll need a bigger water heater.

Gravatar Ma:

"And anyway, none of 'em work without "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding....""

Very true. God did create the human mind and give us a well-functioning understanding, but we are also limited, flawed beings. We are called upon to surrender ourselves on a most basic level to his will and love.

Gravatar Get one of those Rinai tankless ones, that way you'll be saving the oith.

What's your boo-boo Ma?

Gravatar OOOOOO - Cubs just tied it!

Gotta go watch the rest of the game !

Yippeeeee!

Gravatar Yes, Yank....and I can never think of those two phrases, without the next two: Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He SHALL direct your paths.

And, He "told" me, last year, that the "acknowledge" part, which I couldn't comprehend what it meant too well, was best filled in with I Thess. 5: 16-18.

Gravatar Ma Sands:

Perhaps you are right, it does grow on you. I think the key is to understand it originally in terms of actually delight and something one desires. Not always easy, however.

Gravatar Don't know, My4princesses.....just hurts.....probably 'cause Babba called me foolish....

/ --teasing...it hurt before that....

Gravatar "actual delight" that is.

Gravatar Yank in the EU, to me, Joy is something you can't buy, and nobody can steal it from you. Pleasure can easily be bought, and can become an addiction.

MA, I hope you and Babba's mom-in-law feel better real soon.

I also learned that blessings don't always come on our schedules, or when things are done in the proper fashion. And just because I'm not happy with the person facilitating the blessing of unknown gender, said unhappiness will fade as I realize what being a real man of God is all about.

Gravatar Would you settle for Dee-Lite?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m...h? v=mKTCW4oxS6I

Gravatar MW -- heh, lol, maybe you should collect your shavings. ;-p

Gravatar I love that record

Gravatar {{ My4princesses}}

I know, well, that He's got a good plan for that coming baby.....

Gravatar Ma- where is this "not phishing" button of which you speak?

Gravatar Here come big thunder
and the computer friend should be here any minute

I'll BBL

Love yez all

Just in case this gets long I will try to get another post in above it before he takes my machine apart

see ya on the late late late show

Gravatar Okay, Q-Burn:

In your inbox of g-mail, you click on the e-mail (first, putting the e-mail INTO said inbox)

when the e-mail opens, at the top right of it next to the word "reply" there's a little downward-pointing arrow

click on that, and on the resulting dropdown, click on the "not phishing" choice

another dropdown will appear, and again, you click on the "not phishing" choice

.....I did it for two days straight, and on THE THIRD DAY it worked.

Gravatar I'm too young for this paw-paw stuff, I ain't even 50 yet! (till halloween anyway).

Got to remember what Paul said about not getting more than you can handle. Hope the young man involved in this doesn't turn out to be a pain in the ass, I use all my patience with my 4 princesses, none left for knuckleheads.

Gravatar I must go, everyone have a wonderful weekend

Gravatar 'Bye!!!!!

Gravatar Ma- Thanks very much, I will try that! Give thanks and praises!
