Four still imprisoned in crackdown in Shiraz. ISTANBUL, May 21 (Compass Direct News) – Police in the southern Iran city of Shiraz this month cracked down against known Muslim converts to Christianity, arresting members of three Christian families and confiscating their books and computers.
The arrests began at 5 a.m. on May 11, when two couples were taken into custody before boarding their flights at the Shiraz International Airport and sent directly to jail. All four were subjected to hours of interrogation, questioning them solely “just about their faith and house church activities,” an Iranian source told Compass.
The detained Christians were identified as Homayon Shokohie Gholamzadeh, 48, and his wife Fariba Nazemiyan Pur, 40; and Amir Hussein Bab Anari, 25, and his wife Fatemeh Shenasa, 25.
Although the two wives were released the same day of their arrest, Anari was detained until May 14, and Gholamzadeh remains jailed.

The Red Cross operating in South Africa reported that about 25,000 people have fled their homes due to the riots breaking out around the country.

Let me tell you something that I have absorbed enough crap to fill a crap house for: Catholics-and I am a cradle, observant, church going priest feeding Catholic, usually don't know shit about their church. It was meant to be so. If you tell them that there were Protestants at the 1962 garage sale of the faith they pitch a fit. If you tell them that no one said it was okay to eat meat on Friday they get mad. If you tell them it's all right and don't worry about it because the devil hates Latin too, they practically start looking for a strong tree and some rope to hang you with.
Now along comes B-16. He ain’t J2P2. He ain’t in the cult of personality. He ain’t kissing the ground, making nice with the moslems, insinuating that maybe the one true, Catholic, apostolic faith isn't any of those things. He's a scholar and he don't want to hear from your Baltimore Catechism level of theology. Worse yet for the cafeteria crowd he's German and when he gets an idea in his head-well don't waste your breath.
You won't catch him in the Hagia Sophia admiring the wallpaper and he won't be telling you feel good night time stories. If you aren't comfortable with that-there are two solutions-go join another church, or wait around awhile and see if the next pope is more to your liking. Honestly some of us are thrilled. Some are pissed and some are just freaked out.

I call it the Oy Gevalt theology breakthrough. It involves kids being taught their prayers again. It means you have to teach absolutes again-no moral equivocation. No nonsense about us all having an equal and cultural right to our ideas. (Yes, Johnny, the nice man 'honor killed' his sister because she looked at a man.) Sorry we are back to biblical right and wrong and guess what? You know which two religions are practically in lock step over what is right and what is wrong? The two religions that take their cues from God and not Moloch. No, not the Satan worshipers, not the rock god worshipers-the Jews and the Christians, that’s who. Otherwise known as the usual suspects.
So am I surprised that the inbred prince of the inbreeds wanted desperately to be honored by someone who actually is holy? No. Am I surprised that the Holy See would be more likely to be caught sleeping in on Sunday and missing mass? No. The moslems are so desperate to get legitimacy that there is nothing they won’t do. But that has always been the case, hasn’t it?
msoc- Thanks for that thoughtful response. What was striking to me about that link and why I pointed it out was yes, the desperate grab for legitmacy.
That they would pretend a gift shop souveneir is some kind of real award from the Vatican, then spin that in a full-page ad in Business Week magazine for U.S. consumption, all in an effort to promote the Wahabbi brand as the true brand of Islam... that is more than telling.
So I guess it comes down to the same thing I always say about Obama-what do they think-we're stupid?
