That's right, but it seemed too hairy. I thought maybe the decomposition process caused the skin to fluff up a bit, in which case that'd make sense. But the bone at the front of the head was wierd as well. It was so messed up it was difficult to tell.

I think it's a dolphin too. Maybe it was on steroids? Nice colour in the last photo and composition in the one before that.

Looks like an amo box. If you have a close up on the writing I can translate it for you.

I suppose it must have been a dolphin. I'm still unsure why it had so much body hair.
Luke, I didn't get a shot of the writing on the box, but your suggestion is what I thought as well. I'm planning to go back for a long trudge along that bit of coastline though, there was so much wierd stuff with Chinese and Korean written on it. I imagine the northern coastline of Hokkaido is littered with Russian missiles and armery.

It probably had a good life though, swimming among all those Russian firearms and empty Korean washing liquid cartons : )

I heard from someone that Brian of Sai found a life-size cutout poster of Kim Jong-Il on the beach (although I've never actually gotten around to confirming the story with Brian himself). According to the legend, he left it there (?!!) If you find any Kim Jong-Il artifacts on your next visit to the beach I'll be glad to pay you the equivalent value in Shimokita monkeys for them.

For a life size cut out of Kim Jong Il you'd have to spend a lot of time in the woods catching monkies. Anything that I thought was authentically North Korean would be highly prized. Maybe a gorilla?

I agree, it looks to be a dolphin. Some say they are born with fur. Perhaps its a young one.

Itsa dolphin skeleton that has been decayed so badly that the muscles ended up like fur. Boto dolphin lives in South America. So probably the one on those pictures are other dolphin that lives around Japan seas and Pacific ocean.

Here's a link to what a dolphin skeleton looks like.
Pretty sure you found a dolphin skeleton , which is kinda exciting but sad at the same time.
It looks small so it must have been pretty young. Maybe it got separated from its pod and got stuck on shore.

A dolphin?! Are you kidding me, that looks like some kind of hairy beak monster not a cute dolphin. I personally have never seen a hairy dolphin or one with a sharp beak.
