So, anyone want to start a pool as to what Lakner's sentence will be?? I hear he's got previous convictions which are going to weigh heavily into it.
I can tell you this much he has been suspended from his job as the Sara Lee Bread Man..They say,, his job,, and his reputation in Ely is over with.. Charged with 3 felonies,, and 2 misdemeaners,, and a record,, hmmm,, he will be going to jail..
All of the younger guys have their father in the home. So, this does go against assumption. But what are the fathers teaching their sons? What have they let slid "because boys will be boys"? What has the small-town, clicky community ignored because they are locals?
The lack of a fathers involvement has created the society and it's lack of authority, respect, etc but in this case it doesn't seem to be a factor.
I pray the boys have learned from this and pay their debt to those they terrorized in this event and others.
No doubt Lakner will serve time in an ass pounding state penn. My bet he will get more than the minimum but who knows. From what I hear his reputation in Ely is the same as it always was Johnny Rider. He just finally got caught.

Barney James Lakner, and Jay Olson will each spend 3 years in state prison, for their roles, in last summers, shooting, and fireworks spree on Basswood Lake. The 2 Ely men were sentenced, Monday Afternoon by District Judge, Kenneth Sandvick in Two Harbors. They were ordered, to to pay restitution, and banned from the BWCA for 5 years. The 2 men received the mandatory minimum sentences, under state guidelines, for felonies, committed with the use of a firearm. Attorneys for both men argued, for shorter, sentences, to be seved at jails.. Lakner,, and Olson admitted, earlier in their roles, in the August 2007 episode..

I also had heard Mr. Olson going to St. Cloud and Mr. Lakner going to Stillwater...not 100% sure on that; heard that from a friend of a friend.
