Why are you promoting "Puppetry of the Penis"?

That's not nudism. It's perverted!

Gravatar I am not promoting anything . . . I am merely posting an article of interest that incidentally makes mention of "Puppetry of the Penis" as an afterthought of what the author was involved in. I posted the article in its' entirety so you can draw your own conclusions as to the validity of the article. That the author was involved in the production of a show that some may consider 'perverted', does not take away from what she had to say about nudity on a nice sunny day in Seattle.

Gravatar Actually, you are right about it putting her opinions in perspective. Her being involved in "Puppetry of the Penis" shows that she has no credibility one way or the other when it comes to innocent nudity. She comes at it from a pervert's perspective.

Gravatar That ole' slippery slope,eh? Someone says something positive about nudity and it's dismissed out of hand because of the author's tangential associations. She does not claim credibility on the subject of nudism . . . she makes her own personal observations. She certainly does not claim to be a mainstream nudist . . . and therefore is not speaking for that lifestyle. She speaks for herself.

We may both agree that Puppetry is perverted but does that diminish the descriptive words of wanting to be nude on a sunny day in Seattle? Or does it tarnish her assessment of the relative political climates of Seattle and Portland, albeit on the touchy subject of strip clubs? Her observations are valid . . . her choice of association, while distasteful to some, bears little on the article. There should be no rights, means, sexual orientation, religious or political test for nudism.

My personal opinion, of course. Peace,

Gravatar How do you feel about her lumping strip clubs into the discussion of nude beaches and the World Naked Bike Ride?

Gravatar She used strip clubs as an example of the differing attitudes of Washington and Oregon. While she may have seemed to endorse Oregon's more liberal approach to the broader topic of sexuality and adult entertainment as an counterpoint to the more conservative Washington stance, she did not specifically link nudism with strip clubs. I would say it's a fair argument . . . one I wouldn't make or use because of the linkage to often made by clothes-minded conservatives.

You have a valid point but we must remember that the author is not a nudist . . . she is simply writing on nudism as she sees it from her perspective. To her, the linkage between sexuality and what we see as the nudist lifestyle of clothing-optional beaches and the WNBR is there. Our job is to break that linkage.
