Gravatar what a beautiful post! I hope I am lucky enough to have kids one day, and take them to church just to "say hi" to God

Gravatar I love to do this, too, kids or not.

Unfortunately, many churches these days are locked when not in active use.

Gravatar Thank you for reminding me to do this with my daughter when she arrives from China.

Gravatar I've often wondered if my church is open all the time. I don't think so.

A few weeks ago a lady was attacked during the hour of adoration. They caught the guy but it's pretty sad that a person would harm another person in God's house.

When I go to confession there is hardly anyone there and it is so peaceful and quiet. I can hear God better when it's quiet!

Gravatar I like to do that, too. Sometimes, if we go to the church for something else during the week, I will go with my daughters to the Tabernacle to say hi to Jesus. And I have to agree about the church being dark but not spooky. I've always felt that way, even though I was really afraid of the dark until I was 19. Even now, I'm uncomfortable in the dark many times, but never in a darkened church. Not with Jesus RIGHT THERE to protect me.

This Lent, we've done the Stations of the Cross at different parishes in the area each Friday. Last week, we were on the road and stopped by St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Savannah, GA. It was so beautiful there (rennovated, not wreckovated) that I actually cried. I'd never seen the saints painted up near the ceiling like that, all processing toward the Tabernacle and the Altar! And the side altars and Communion rails were there, too. And the saints' statues, too. Just stunning! It was worth the extra hour of travel it entailed on our trip home from Florida.

Gravatar What a beautiful idea. I know that I like visiting two other parishes near me for Masses at times other than my usual 8 AM Sunday Mass. It's a very pious tradition.

Good post.
