Important advice to remember. I'll be thinking about this today.

I loved the readings today. When I was teaching RCIA on Tuesday evening, I asked the parish sister to read the first reading for today, as it tied in with the theme of Creation for which I'd made a powerpoint presentation.
I think God is super abundant in his blessings to us and his timing.
Though I am not married, I have been legally married in the past and I can honestly say that God didn't figure in that marriage in any way at all apart from the part where I'd cry myself to sleep asking God for guidance.
I am slightly miffed that He's had me spend the last 8 years single (I am free to marry in the Catholic Church), but I trust in Him. If I marry, I will have an entirely different perspective on Marrige as a Sacrament and my responsibility toward my husband.
You've given me lot's to think about

I visited a little out-of-the-way church this morning for Mass. The priest began his homily with "Marriage." I couldn't contain myself. He sounded exactly like the prefect in "The Princess Bride!"
MAWIAGE!
Father gave a superb homily that hit everyone in that little church right between the eyes (myself included)and I was grateful for the opportunity to be present...

We had a wonderful homily on marriage as well. Father talked about how the secular world does not value marriage because it doesn't expect anything to come out of marriage; it's just a contract between two private individuals to love each other until they don't love each other anymore. But the real Sacrament is most closely related to the sacrifice of the Mass because in marriage you have promised to lay down your life for your spouse, to give your whole body over to the marriage and to another person. He went on to talk about how marriage is a miracle, and I felt goosebumps on my arms. I knew that God was talking personally to every married person in that church. It was awesome!

Isn't that a radical, beautiful way to look at the sacrament of marriage?

Well I am envious you have a priest that can be so inspirational..... the one I listened to was about 'the sins of adultery'. As if none of us realised.......

What? The purpose of marriage isn't personal gain and temporal happiness at all times? What if we "fall out of love"? What if I meet someone who is more fulfilling? What if this view of marriage sends people to hell...
Marriage is for life, because Heaven is for eternity.

"What if" it sends them to hell, Lisa? Surely it will!! I love what you said at the end because it sums it all up SO well.
