One year the Religious Ed day fell on a Jewish holiday. They do not have Religious Ed when the schools were closed. So therefore they did not have Religious Ed because of a Jewish Holiday. They do however have Religious Ed on holy days of obligation. So maybe it's really not that crazy a question.

LOL -- that reminds me of one time in graduate school when we convinced one of our professors to let us out early, on account of Ash Wednesday. We were all coming from a class of a devoutly Catholic instructor, and he had let us all out. So, our poor Chinese professor didn't even know what Ash Wednesday was, but let us all go. Truth be told -- I'm not entirely sure if there was a single Catholic in the bunch (including myself at the time).
And, while, of course, not only Catholics observe Ash Wednesday (I always have, as I was formerly Episcopalian), but our other teacher (he was a guest lecturer) let us all go because he wanted to go to Mass and had only eaten one protein bar for the whole day at that point (6 pm).
