I get some of my best ideas while running. I've almost taken to running with a pen. But I'll really be happy when they come up with miniature keyboards for iPods!

When I get those comments and attitudes about how little time it must take to write a picturebook, I smile and say/think "No, a picturebook takes a long, long time to write--your whole life long." If I write a picturebook text today, it actually took me 52 years to write it--which is how old I am. I couldn't have written that particular text any younger.
