Yay for "An Egg Is Quiet," which also should have gotten a Caldecott honor in my opinion.
You were an excellent nonfiction go-to guy, Chris. I enjoyed working on the nominating committee with you, Anastasia, Camille, and Deb.
The judges made a great choice. Hats off to them.

Chris,
I love AN EGG IS QUIET. The text is lovely and lyrical. I, too, think it was one of the best-illustrated children's books of 2006. I am looking forward to reading Long's and Aston's next book, A SEED IS SLEEPY, which is due to be released in March.
I think your nominating panel did a great job!

Thanks, y'all. It was a real treat for me to serve on the Cybils, and I'm delighted that the process honored such a great nonfiction picture book.
Elaine, I'm excited about A SEED IS SLEEPY, too -- I've seen the cover, and it features a huge pod from a Texas Mountain Laurel, which I've got growing in my front yard.
