Chris, I love him. We should have a James Marshall Festival of Books because he is (I cannot talk about him in the past tense) so wonderful.
Chris, If you're enjoying Marshall's work, you might want to take a look at WAYS OF TELLING: Conversations on the Art of the Picture Book, edited by Leonard S. Marcus.
Marcus includes a remarkable interview with Marshall. I swear, it's as if you're sitting with Marshall listening to him describe how he goes about writing his books.
And, Susan, a Marshall festival sounds like a terrific way to celebrate the man and his work. He's one of my favorites.
