Last night, here in Houston, PBS American Experience (which I always love) ran a tremendous piece on Apollo 8 and how it really "saved" 1968. The odds were long that the mission would be successful. The first photograph of the beautiful Earth, rising over the moon was taken during that mission. My husband commented that he had that photo on the wall of his bedroom as a boy. They often repeat those episodes if you didn't see it.
I got quite emotional watching it.
