Yet another reason I need to be Baseball commissioner. Seriously.

I was getting very groggy over here Iain, I have caught a nasty case of the flu and I watched the game more out of primal instinct than anything else. The longer the marathon went on the more my thoughts went out to you in Paris...you guys are FANS.
When it got to be 8 to 8, Dorothy (the brains of the family) went to bed. Whilst I promptly went into a flu induced coma in my chair. I told my dog Scooter to wake my up if the Rays looked like they had something going. He jumped on my lap when Perez was made a pinch runner.
Some history from the old timer here re start times. In prehistory ALL MLB WS games were of course afternoon affairs. They would start at 1PM. I have a distinct memory of only finding out that Don Larson had thrown a perfect game riding the school bus home about 4pm. To this day my brain tells me the game was played in black and white in about 2 minutes of Yogi jumping into Larson's arms after striking out Dale Mitchell.
But what the hell goes on with today's 4PM start????? Much better for folks in France. But here????? Could they have picked a more inconvienient hour????? But wait! I forgot it is Columbus Day! Sail on Sox and Rays, and on and on and on................

Kelly - you have my vote.
Don - I loved this:
I told my dog Scooter to wake my up if the Rays looked like they had something going. He jumped on my lap when Perez was made a pinch runner.
Sounds like a pretty smart dog you have there. Maybe you could get TBS to hire him to call games?
Re. today's start time: for us over here, I'm actually not sure it is better then 2am. It's a 4:37pm start, which means 10:37pm here. That's a little too early to take a decent nap before the game, which means that if it goes 4+ hours, I'm looking at a 3am finish, then up for work at 6:30am. I'm praying for a Jon Lester no-hitter in about 2:08...

Now Scooter is probably the dumbest canine on the planet. Totally useless, all he is is my friend.

As I'm in Scandinavia I'm now on Paris time, so game 5 will start at 2am....
It is clear Selig doesn't give a rats behind about creating another generation of fans in the US. The 10pm starts in the Angels series drove me nuts...

Nick - I agree. I fully understand that the start-times are not designed for us Europeans, but, as you say, MLB should at least be taking into consideration its main market and future generations of fans. Especially as it's going to be an all-East Coast Series.
Bud's an idiot. :-(
