I agree that 11 year olds having sex is a tragedy. The only 11 year old I knew when I was that age who was having sex was a mom at 15. (And still married to the father the last I heard 10 years later, but still).

But if the 11 year old is having sex, chances are the family isn't all that healthy to begin with and isn't going to deal with either that news or the news about the birth control in a particularly constructive way.

Making sure the kid is at least protected from being a mother at 12 is probably about the best you can hope for in that situation unless you want to remove her from the home entirely.

the government should put birth control in the water like flouride. Or implants at birth.
