Red Bull and vodka follows a grand tradition of pairing ups with alcohol. In the 70s through 80s the up pairing of choice was coke. In the 60s, The Beatles famously arrived in America on that Pan Am flight into JFK... was it 1963?... high on "prellies" and scotch and coke (the brown liquid version). The 90s didn't have an up pairing, which is perhaps why they are so forgettable. PS for the uninitiated a speedball, which I recall from a very messy night in a NY night club in the early 80s, is a dope and coke.
