To the People

it doesn't take long for Krauthammer to embarrassingly wet himself.

Is this a dig at crippled people?

Yeah, pulling out the Latin and launching it at the President is a demonstration of intellectual vanity of the highest order -- and deserving of high praise. I only wish it were done more form (neo)conservative quarters.

Even the most erudite of columnists seem to have scant understanding of the necessity of an active judiciary to give force to our tripartite system of government. This is especially imperative in an age where the rise of the supra-constitutional abomination of the administrative state -- consisting of increasing numbers of behemoth executive agencies who wield largely unaccountable authority -- has fundamentally altered the balance between the three branches (and between the federal government and the States).

Apparently, Montesquieu and Federalist No. 78 need to be taught in Ivy League law schools and undergraduate government classes. Oh, for a return of the non-delegation doctrine in American jurisprudence!

Look up great dialog Krauthammer and Francis Fukuyama engaged in, beginning with Krauthammer's address to AEI a few years back. Not nearly enough public intellectuals call one another out in such a conspicuous fashion.

Krauthammer, George Will, and Lou Cannon were actually the columnists who influenced me the most as a child. Yes, I know it's bizarre to make such a claim...
