To be honest, I'm glad there hasn't been a nickname given to the decade yet. A nickname is like a handle or a hook -- you attach it to a thing, and then you can hang all kinds of stupid things off of it. I don't want to hear about "the sixties" or "the eighties", and if there weren't easy names to hook onto the notion of "those ten years", I probably wouldn't. The longer we can go without nicknaming the decade, the longer we'll go without hot air being spewed about how everything in the decade fit into somebody's preconceived notion of how things were.
