This program seems like typical Congressional overreaction. Congress does two things only: nothing, or overreact. It seems to me that it is pretty simple to determine whether a person is legal to work or not. Simply ask a social security number and/or birth certificate/passport. It makes much more sense to enforce existing laws than to adopt sweeping laws that will have broad and potentially unforeseen consequences. |

Leonardo, the problem with that is the proliferation of fraudulent documents. Many employers unknowingly hire undocumented workers because of falsified information such as stolen social security numbers. |

Transplant this issue to the NICS firearm background-check system. In that system, legislation requires that sellers allow up to 2 days (IIRC) for the transaction to complete, so 7-10 SECONDS seems optimistic. Further, if NICS is only 80% to 90% accurate, then what good is it? |
